So, i have wanted an Ibanez S series for at least the last 10 years. Since i have spent several years doing easy mods and a cpl refinishes, i figured a fixer-upper was right up my alley. So i recently bought what was listed as a "Ibanez S series Saber Guitar body loaded". Floyd posts need a little attention, Infinity pickups in good shape, not much else to it except finding a neck. So, i bought a 25.5" scale ibanez "style" neck to start. This may be a very silly question but im hoping it will spark some enlightening conversation on scale lengths from which i can gain some much needed knowledge. When i dry fit the neck, im getting around 26.5" (26 3/8"-26 3/4", the range between the far reaches of the bridge saddles) I checked all of the fret spacings, and they are very precise to 25.5" scale measurements. Does this mean i have a 26.5" scale length body.? Ibanez definitely made some. But i thought that was primarily a 7 string scale.? And my unit came with a 6 string bridge. Anyway, sorry about the super long post, im just very confused now. I will make one if i have to, im just very unsure of what i am needing in order to land on an intonatable scale length.. TIA for any help provided.

Measuring the neck from the nut to the 12th fret and doubling that measurement will tell you for sure what scale length the neck was built for. Ibanez's normal scale length is 25.5" which the S series uses. Ibanez makes 26.5" necks for 7-string guitars so check your neck to be sure you have been sold the correct scale length.

The only way a 25.5" scale neck would produce 26.5" when dry-fitted to the guitar is that the neck is 1" from being fully inserted into the neck pocket. I am sure you have checked that but may be worth double-checking. Do the screw holes in the body and the neck line up?
