While reading the practice tips article that Steve put up I saw and investigated this link. 

I wonder, what would my brain be like if I did not play an instrument! ???

Nice article.  Thanks for posting.  This is one reason I started the guitar at age 74 to keep my mind active and also the dexterity of my fingers ... but gained so much more.  If you can find the DVD by Angel Romero The Art of Classical Guitar he talks about staying fit in order to play the guitar ... especially if you a are a performer.

Thank you for posting this video Mandy. I too started to play for my brain and as Brad wrote for dexterity in my fingers.  When I started guitar I also started practicing yoga to get into better shape. All good things. :)
