It looks like at least  30 bands that were looking for a name started or ended up by going through Bob Dylan’s songs. Bands like “Baby Blue”, “Blood on the Tracks” and “Cream.”

One name that got my curiosity that didn’t come from Dylan was “Blue Oyster Cult”. Seemed a bit  odd to name your band after a bivalve molluscs. Well, it turned out It’s not a mollusks after all but a blue oyster mushroom. Seems there manager was also a poet and one of his poems was about aliens and blue oyster cult was in one of his poem. His poems don’t appear to have been published so, I ran into a dead end trying to find the poem. The bands first of many names was  “Soft White underbelly” then  they changed it again to “Santos Sister.”  Blue oyster Cult was to be America’s answer to Black Sabbath “ which  by the way was named after a low budget horror film.
