I had some comp time on my birthday at the end of last month and got out of work early and I was so happy it was so nice out. So I got to play my new Martin in the sunshine (my favorite place to play ) and I recorded two songs. This one and an original. I’m still working on getting the original on YouTube. So here is the instrumental: Ecossiase by Mauro Giuliani I hope I did it justice! thanks for watching Maria Ecossiase by Mauro Giuliani

John Mayer uses a particular right hand technique, which I don't know if there is an official name for, but I will use the term "slap and flick". I am trying to learn a few of his songs that use it (Stop this Train, Heart of Life, etc..) Part of my struggle is that I normally play with a Fred Kelly Speed Pick on my thumb and because it has a long pick end, it gets in the way of a clean percussive thumb slap. I am now trying to play without it and am not getting any volume out of the thumb slap. Any suggestions?
