Or just go the ths top of any forum page.
Click Guitar Learning Resources.
That's got everything Steve produces

It takes a day or two to get up there

I think depending on the density of the material the sound could brighten or darken or stay the same
depends on Wood, bone, fossil.. etc.
I changed my pins from plastic to bone,, just cause plastic is cheap.. and bone is a natural product

You may want to be careful doing that. You might create too much pressure and crack the body.
I was really meaning for solid body electrics, but most acoustics also have a solid block of wood for the end pin to go into as well..
some acoustics do not, always best to know your guitar.
-
Just as a reminder.. for those that play with straps
Check your strap pins !!!
they do come loose.. just noticed on my one of my guitars the end pin was almost out.
(Edit I should say screw was on its last threads as opposed to end pin which would refer to a pressed in pin)
grabbed a wooden toothpick and a little dab of wood glue.. into the hole it went, screwed the pin back in.. poof fixed.

@NeilES335 actually for the park path walk (yrs ago before the dog) I used a $1500 MIA Strat to practice the 5 pentatonic scales.
Its A lot harder then it seems to walk the trails and play.
You think I'd be able to "Rip" the pent's but nope, my standard level

You're putting in the "mileage" and building a song repertoire too.
An example for others to follow
(One of these days I'll have to shift gears and follow)

ZZ Top guitar tech sampled Billy's 59 Les Paul running 10's.
Then they put it in an effects processor.
All guitars single coil to hottest humbucker, could be strung with 3's and would sound the same as his $500,00 59 he's got in a vault0 running 10's
That's how they consistency between all his guitars.
-
Typically acoustic guitars use 12's, so you're already 2 sets lower than normal.
The guitar might harder to play as 2 sets down may have changed the neck adjustment
Nylon string guitar is really only way to be really easier on the fingers.
I've tried other string makers, but for my acoustic I go back to john pearse strings
Otherwise play in short spurts

Cars and guitars.......If only I had more money!!!!!!!!!!!
Wife bought me a shirt few years back that said and had
Cars and Guitars on it.
Still have it, still wear it

Why buy a guitar to be cased and shoved under a bed or closet unless you gave up playing.
Keep it out and play it is best

Awesome group Neil, I'm sure you'll try and make as many jams next summer as you can
Nothing like playing live
Guess I need to practice some sort of lead solo sometime, for a "just in case" time
Wish there was something like this down here for us.

Maybe it's the solvents you use at work are not coming off your hands and are conflicting with the finish of the guitar.
Probably the worst thing I did was put insect repellent on when I was in the back yard, then grabbed my Les Paul to play, I could feel my strumming arm sticking to the top of the guitar.
Btw Steve doesn't use thumb over top to grab low E,
Many players don't, many do, great music can be made both ways

I'm on a lot of guitar forums since about 2006..
don't think I've ever seen a problem/solution such as this.
I guess what ever works for you
-
you shouldn't sand the neck of the guitar unless you're trying to change the profile of the neck.. you'll remove the coating of the guitar.
with this next statement you really need to know what your guitar is made of..
guitars usually have 2 finishes..
one is Polly urethane and the other is Nitro
with Polly guitars use standard guitar polish or if you really like car polish to buff them up and make them slippery.
with Nitro guitars.. (usually found on more expensive guitars.) you use Naphtha to clean the oils off and make it slide..
Naphtha will take the coating of a Polly guitar off.. so you really need to know what your guitar is made of..
both my Les Paul and my MIA strat are Nitro guitars... Naphtha is known as liter fluid.
now that you've sanded it.. you may be dealing with the coating removed.
find out what was covering your guitars and try a guitar polish

Check out Scottish comedienne Bill Baily.

My pinky still doesn't behave walking backwards 4 3 2 1,
Only thing I can think of is you start tensing up fast you go.

"No good excuse, just not motivated"
So... you want to play in your church praise band. That's a very worthy goal. My buddy @Eracer_Team-DougH has been playing guitar in church for years. He's also a VERY dedicated student of guitar, and practices virtually every day (even in his car at lunch hours and at the mall while his wife is shopping) since he started maybe 10+(?) years ago.
You already have the advantage of band experience, know rhythm and playing with others (that many of us don't have.} Learning guitar is like anything else worthwhile; it takes commitment, dedication and desire. Beyond that it requires Practice, Patience, and Persistence. But the rewards are great! It's something you can do solely for yourself, and which others will enjoy also.
So, what's it going to be? You CAN do it IF you want to. Hope to see you around. All the best; N
For what I've learnt is:
When someone in the USA says "praise/worship band" they mean basically full on "pro-level" rock band
I play in a choir (loosely using 'choir,' as we don't corral sing, but just sing as best we can)... and 98% play chord rhythm.
If one can play melody fine but not required.
I am not the apitamony of playing skills but perseverance probably.
I play in the van when wife is shopping or in the car at lunch at work, or check my gallery pictures of my too hot for car under tree practice.
A bit lazy at playing at night as the dog and wife seem to want my attention at the moment (when I don't practice at night I'm none too happy with myself)
I can tell you that with "all" this practice, I'm still not a very good guitarist.
Although playing in front of 1500 people in church for 200 choirs now (wow completed 200 choir'sin 4yrs), I could not rip Sister Golden Hair or American Pie songs out at a coffee shop.
There are many (like Diane, Neil, Gotto, SixString) that can play circles around me.
There are times I ask "why? Why do I bother, when so many LMGr players, can produce such great music and mine sucks???"
(Then there was 20yrs of 24hr work, 9 major theater productions, 4yrs of choir playing, and amp construction all at the same time)
I just recorded using my looper Day Tripper ; besides the numerous mistakes and missing bar, I'm actually too embarrassed to post here as I can hear where the playing is not good.
Somewhere in my mind says,,,, some day I'll sound good , each days practice, playing sucks, next day playing sucks, next day p....
You as a drummer know beat.
Par-a-did-al, par-a-did-al...
Guitar terms... 1&2&3&4&
As for guitar mags...
Well I find unless you can play plenty great, going to be hard to play that stuff.
Hope you find some inspiration in this somewhere.
I'm back under my tree with 20min to play now

Now he may have said things differently between the Legacy and Gibson versions.
I'll check what he says on my Legacy version tonight

I going to my first Open Mic/ Jam Night in a few weeks (there will be some pros there too).
Neil you'll be fine, you know more theory than most pros,
You can "hear" the music to be able to play it.
Only thing the pros have is playing with others, just watch the leader for the changes and turn around, they'll usually give you a nod it's coming up

You're certainly putting the leg work into these sessions.

There is a whole bunch of vid by Seymour on his YouTube channel

It's a fun series. I still work session 2 a fair bit.
But since my choir I play in every weekend is shutting down, I've committed my learning to learn some "real" songs at the moment.
And working theory in the background
Session 17 - Going Beyond the First Position
in Gibson's Learn & Master Guitar
Posted
I sometimes don't see the course as linear as Session 1 to Session 2 to Session 3..
as your skill increases you'll want to skip ahead (esp above session 9) .. learn something new that peaks your interest but might not grasp the concept/skill at that time.
then you jump back and work something that wasn't just quite right when you were there, then move forward again..
remember as skills are learned we use them, here and there.
(pss.. also Steve has said the "master" in Learn and Master .. was just a name they came up with.. don't trip over the "I didn't master X session")
the learning , adjusting, re-learning, never stops..
I'm nowhere near Session 17, but now that I'm not playing in my choir every week, is allowing me to go back to areas that are week and re-learn/re-adjust them and move forward all at the same time.
