Definitely Loudbox Mini...Get the whole package.
Fishman Loudbox Mini BT Songwriter Package with Microphone, Stand & Cable

@SandyB You can add Steve's The Song Hits to give you songs to learn along with the chapters in the L&M Guitar Course.. Play songs early and often.
-
Rock Hits were definitely Gibson. There was varying quality of the learning material, but the lessons were pretty good.
Steve Krenz has The Song Hits which parallels the L&M Guitar Course.

Yeah, sometimes you just have to stop thinking about the chord and start playing it.
I have been practicing a new song with some new chords down the neck. I try to play the chord progression I am learning, and I stumble quite a bit. If I try to play along to the video of the song with the artist which is faster I can actually hit the chords fairly clean.
Do not fear learning new chords. You will never say to yourself "I wish I didn't learn all these chords". Every chord is a new challenge.
Practice and repeat.

Get really close to the fret with your barre. You should use the side of your finger for the barre. You can pull back and down slightly on the neck. Don't squeeze with your thumb.

Dusty Hill, bassist for iconic rock group ZZ Top, dies at 72 (nbcnews.com)
ZZ Top would not be the same without Dusty's big bass.

Well I don't know about the space, but you should definitely invest in an audio interface, DAW, and maybe a microphone. The interface should have at least 2 inputs. Mine has 2x2, but you can only use 2 channels at a time. You can also get a free version of Pro Tools for you DAW. Pro Tools First doesn't have all the tracks of the full version, but it is more than capable of recording quality guitar tracks and a lot more.

I approve!

I have been playing that form over the last year. I watched this lesson a long time ago, but this time it made more sense to me.

I would definitely stop in for a visit.

@Sandman 136 Yes it is absolutely normal. You need to put those worries behind you now. Every new skill you learn will be awkward at first. You are learning numerous skills at the same time.
Thanks to Steve's course I can play all the first position chords with my eyes closed. It seems natural, and I really understand why they work. I also can add variations by changing the fingering a little. But this came over a long period of time and daily practice.
As Diane stated do not spend a lot of time on Session 1 because it is just an introduction. You have much to do. Keep a positive attitude. Playing guitar isn't easy. Practice slow to play fast. Don't stare at your hands all the time. Don't worry about mistakes. Don't strive for perfection.
Watch the lesson.
Practice with the book.
Practice with the workout.
Practice some more.
Move on when you understand the material and can play maybe 80% accurate.
Don't give up if you hit a plateau, or are struggling with a skill. Try something else for a while.

It takes as long as it takes. Can you do focused practice with the course everyday? Then you will make progress. If you don't it takes a long time. L&M Guitar is a focused college level music course. You can go far with the material. You will be a guitar player long before you finish the course.
I am one of the early L&M crew. I have only seen 1 person finish the course in a year. But could they play well? I can't say because they never shared recordings. It is easy to go through the material, but the master part is harder.
You are supposed to watch the lesson, work the material, workout with the skill for every session, and that is a lot of work. Don't forget the bonus materials. You have to play for fun too.

I found this in a search.
Active pickups are common on acoustic guitars because they do not play well with electric amplifiers.

@NeilES335 That is a Lutehole cover. They make several kind and sizes. They reduce feedback and look great.

@NeilES335 I have a 2009 Ovation Standard Balladeer made in Hartford. This one has the mid cut bowl so it is perfect for playing seated. I purchased it a few months before I found Learn and Master Guitar. It is a very high quality instrument which always stays in tune.

Taylor uses medium strings on a lot of guitars including the Taylor GS Mini. Any quality guitar could go up a string size with no issue.
But why would you want to? Playing guitar isn't easy no matter string type. I can't think of a single scenario where I would decide to go up a string size.
Know your guitar. Go to the website or read your manual. The manufacturer will tell you the best gauge to use. You can usually go up or down a size with minor adjustments. Anything more you should get an expert opinion.

I use D'Addario most of the time.
My Ovation Standard Balladeer came with EXP.
D'Addario EXP Coated Acoustic Guitar 80/20 Bronze Light, .012 - .053, EXP11
My Taylor Grand Pacific came with Elixir Medium Gauge Phosphor Bronze NANOWEB (.013-.056)
The 13's are a beefy string. I am going to try a light set at some point.

Solid wood top is the standard. All solid wood is even better. The top is the most important part in the acoustic guitar.
Mostly cheap guitars will be all laminate. They aren't always terrible, but they will not improve with age and lose value rapidly. A laminated body with a solid top is common on less expensive, but not cheap guitars.
Fender makes great electric guitars, but I am not impressed with most Fender acoustic guitars.
Martin and Taylor dominate the acoustic guitar business and they make great guitars. You will find they both sell guitars with solid tops and laminated bodies. Martin also uses a laminated material on some of its guitar necks, and fretboards.
For a few dollars more you can have a Taylor or Martin with a solid top.

NGD - Fender Player Stratocaster
in Guitar Gear, Amps, Effects, Pedals
Posted · Edited by Randy120
I looked at a lot of different guitars before I made my purchase. I even purchased a pretty nice PRS P20E acoustic and returned it because I didn't like the cheap plastic tuners. I wanted to add single coil sound, so I finally decided to just purchase a Fender Player Stratocaster. Of course, I couldn't resist going with the HSS model to add a humbucker. The guitar is beautiful and well put together. I am impressed with this MIM Strat. I was shocked that it didn't even come with a gig bag, but I added a nice modern Fender composite case.
