Four Sticks

   have you ever read the lyrics to a song and thought how hard could that have been. Or, what does that even mean? lyrics like  “When the owls cry in the night”,”oh baby when the pines begin to  cry” “oh baby the River’s red”. Those are lyrics from Four Sticks. it gives me pause for thought. Getting passed  the lyrics what about the song name Four Sticks. What sticks?  I read some song  interpretations by others  and they seem pretty bad.
 

I wonder what was  the song titled before Sticks ? It seems during the recording sessions the drummer had problems so, he started to use four sticks two in each hand and that’s when the light bulb flickered and someone decided to call the song four sticks.
 

The album cover appears to me an old man carrying a bundle of sticks.It’s looks pretty good.  It appears to be painted by Van Gogh and reminds me of “Starry Nights.”

 

Edit: last night I woke up about 3am and as I walked by a  window  an Owl flew past. It reminded me of Native American superstitions and four sticks. Sounds like a name that would have originated on the Great Plains.an I think the song might have a connection to Native Americans.
