  1. I have used Reverb a couple times and both were good experiences. I decided to return one of the purchases (the guitar needed a lot of work that was not described in the listing) and the seller took it back with no problems.

  2. Those are nice guitars @Magnit - I can see why you are gassing for one!

I have owned a Composite Acoustics for a number of years and it is a great guitar to take on trips. I hate traveling with a wood guitar and worrying if it is getting too hot (or cold) if left in the car.

Someday, someone is going to figure out how to tweak carbon fiber guitars to sound like any wood guitar. Want your carbon fiber guitar to sound like a prewar Martin, a '30s Gibson, etc. - no problem. They are not there yet (my Composite Acoustics is built like a tank, and very heavy) - but it will happen some day. They are already making significant progress with violins.

Hey there I’m registered also with two other friends we aren’t showing on the list??? (Williams, LaPlante, Baird, and guests). Hoping all is ok!

Hi Peggy - glad you will be joining us. I believe that Steve is traveling to Boston this week. The list above is updated manually by Steve when he visits the site. If you have registered and paid on Steve's site you are good. He will update the list eventually.

Do you mean something like this?

    Ovation non-slip pad

I have a 2008 Ovation Standard Balladeer, but mine has the contoured mid-depth bowl so slipping is not a problem.

I use a similar product with my Composite Acoustics guitar - it slides all over the place without the pad.

@NeilES335 - do you want to be able to remove the pad occasionally - or do you want to glue it on permanently?

  5. Welcome Bruce!

I agree with what Diane said above. It is nice to have an acoustic and electric available. For example - the electric will come in handy when you are starting barre chords. My current guitar instructor is working me through some barre chord lessons (some of them are 32 bars long) that include chords all over the neck. Even though I have been playing for 5+ years, I simply can't do an hour of these exercises on my acoustic (despite the fact that it is set up with fairly low action). However, I still play my acoustic regularly so my hands won't get lazy.

I am recovering from rotator cuff surgery and I gave my guitar a play over the weekend and I can play without too much pain.  So I am looking forward to getting back into the lessons.  I left off on lesson 9 and now I will go through the first eight again to refresh my memory.   I also have the fingerstyle lessons to get through eventually!

    Welcome back!

It's time for me to move on from lesson 9. Looking at lesson 10 finger style is what I believe is next for me. A couple of issues concern me at this point 1. I will never be able to have longer finger nails 2. From an accident my index finger was cut off just past the nail. Looking on line at various finger picks has me confuse, so many options. Does any one have experience with finger picks or should I forget lesson 10 and move on to lesson 11?

You can manage just fine in session 10 without fingernails. Not everyone who plays fingerstyle uses fingernails to create their tone. Personally, I hate having long nails - when I let them grow them out even a tiny bit - they always break.

I have never tried to use finger picks - however, do use a thumb pick.

    Good luck in session 10!
