I didn’t realize there were two types of grace notes the more familiar one being the acciaccatura. Some music books only mention appoggiatura and show it with a slash through the grace note.Kinda confusing.

I remember seeing this term years ago in one of Mel Bay’s beginner books. Unfortunately it wasn’t explained in the book and I quickly forgot about it.Then I stumbled across this article, oddly enough while trying to figure out another chord like structures in Mel Bay’s books.

I thought the following video was interesting and it might help someone write a solo.

I had just about forgotten the F shape on the neck until I noticed the chords in “Wipe Out”. I also thought that song would be a fun way to practice alternating picking.

Charles Duncan and “A Modern Approach to Classical Guitar” This seems to be a pretty good course for someone trying to learning classical guitar without a private teacher. It contains three books with plastic comb binding and cds for $30.00. It’s 25 years old but still available.

I didn’t know you could plug your guitar into a computer and use software and eliminate using pedals.

Here’s a lesson that is on my list for 2023.

you might be playing the accordion. Chewing gum and walking seems easy compared to playing one of these beauties.

Since Steve had it titled “Country Chicken Pickin’” I never associated the term with the blues. Hybrid picking in the blues.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZAx8mk81H4

I like it when I find a lesson that is using sheet music I can get. In this case the teacher is the one who arranged the music. I think his second arrangement on “music notes” has some of the same notation las Steve’s arrangement in the fingerstyle course.

Neil Young’s harmonica playing is the reason I bought a “poor man’s saxophone “ but it’s not a easy to sound like him as I thought it would be.

1959 ! What were you doing? I met the girl next door.Spent a lot of time sitting in a 1954 Chevy running the battery down.I remember going to friends house to watch Bonanza in color. Then the second best thing Twilight Zone on TV. Then of course the brand new interstate highway curved its way through town.

The sheet music linked isn’t exactly what I was looking for it has some blank measures. In case you are interested in the “old blues” you might browse through “The Real Blues Book” ( C instruments). The song appears to be complete in the book.

Recently, a member posted about Giuliani’120 right hand studies and I realized that it had been years since I heard the name not followed by law suits. I also realized that I’d never goggled the studies that I could remember. I found the lessons below pretty informative.

My Vox wah wah pedal was slowly becoming rust in the wind. So before the spirit world gets a new toy I thought I’d better learn to use it. Voodoo Child seemed an appropriate place to start and this is the you tube lesson that’s going to make it happen.

One of the members was recently talking about The Band Metallica I am not a “heavy metal”fan but I thought I’d take a look at the song to see what he was talking about; “One” by Metallica. First off it is 18 pages of music, and it wasn’t what I had imagined. It actually looked pretty interesting. On page 8 it has some “pick tapping”. I kinda remember Steve talking about tapping in session 14. Here it said to use the edge of the pick and not your finger. That got my attention. So I had to google pick tapping to see what exactly was happening using this method..There we’re a few videos on “pick tapping” and the videos explained how they were using a pick instead of a finger which was interesting because it eliminates the need to magically get the pick out of the way when transitioning to tapping. However since I never really tried tapping I started looking for a beginner lesson and found a Fender Play video that gave some history and discussed the basic tapping technique in more detail.

WHAM, designated by a W. The string is “WHAMMED” up and stretched. I am not sure, is this an old term used for “bending” or maybe just “unison bends” in Mississippi Delta Blues Guitar? Freddie Spruell probably whammed a few strings playing “Milk Cow Blues” a hundred years ago and McKinley Morganfield probably wasn’t no stranger to this “special effect”.
