  1. Thank you. That approach does seem much easier. Once you do that I think the song really is pretty easy to play.
  2. I was wondering if anybody else is confused on Blackbird in Session 3 of Learn and Master Fingerstyle. On the DVD Steve shows the the patter with a G on A string, Bat 12 th Fret on B string and open G. While playing the song it looks like he play the first measure and then goes to that position and does thumb with 2 then, 1,2, thumb, 2,1. That part seems straightforward but the notation says to go same G on A string and B on high E string, then open G. The pattern involving G on A string, B at 12th fret and open G does not come in until the verse.
  3. I finally figured out that like many other things playing Canon in D is not very difficult but playing it well is. So I moved on to exercises in session 1 finger style but still come back to play Canon in D.
  4. I am glad to see that others have had the same experience I have had. I am on session 10 of the main class and have been there for probably two months (way beyond the expected to time to master). I find it easy to keep time with chords in the exercises but have a hard time with chord changes so will often repeat one exercise over and over again. Today I did a lot of DGDG changes over and over again. Diane is very right this is an endless process of improvement. I have the set for Fingerstyle but so far have only looked at it. I will start once I feel comfortable playing all the way through Canon in D.
  5. Thanks, I have to remember progress will take a long time and lots of practice.
  6. I think I figured out I am supposed to ignore the musical notation between the chord and the TAB notes. Just keep my fingers on the chords and play according to TABs. Is that correct?
  7. I hope I am not the only one who has had this issue but I noticed on House of the Rising Sun that often times the notes in the music notation correspond but just as often they do not. In the first line for example there is an Am and just under this an "A" note is displayed but then the next note is a "B" but my 1st finger is still on the 1st fret from the Am. In order to play a "B" I would need to take my finger one the second string. Is that what I am supposed to do? Later on the same line there is F chord followed by an A note. The A note would require 4th finger on 5th fret of 1st string. Is that correct? Or am I totally misinterpreting the notation?
