There is now a lead guitar track in Mandy's project folder on box.com for whoever is doing the mix.
There are 3 versions:
GGFcollab1-leadguitar.aif = original recording, 24 bit 48kHz
GGFcollab1-leadguitar.mp3 = 128kbps stereo
GGFcollab1-leadguitar.wav = 16 bit 44.1kHz (as are Mandy's WAVs)- 2

The topic Symptoms of a Wet or Dry Guitar includes much discussion on the topic, PDFs and links to helpful videos. I think you should find the answer you need there - and if not, feel free to join the discussion.

Thanks, Mandy. Is there any chance you could upload the vocal track alone, without being part of a mix? I would be really grateful.
I don't know why but I thought I had been volunteered to do the lead part for this collaboration. Looking back I cannot see how I got that impression. As no one has yet volunteered can I contribute the lead guitar this time?

That's fantastic, Jusca, I am so excited you found a method that works for you.
Edit: Sorry, Jusca, if that sounds condescending - it does to me yet I did not mean it like that.

Ian, you are missing a major 3rd.
I have a few (rising) intervals I have come to rely on, based on songs used when I started playing recorder or films I like. I have three gaps so I have work to do!
Here are mine:
Minor 2nd: 1st and 2nd notes of Pink Panther
Major 2nd: 2nd and 3rd notes of Happy Birthday
Minor 3rd: 1st and 2nd notes of Greensleeves
Major 3rd: 1st and 2nd notes of the hymn Once In Royal David's City
Perfect 4th: 1st and 2nd notes of Amazing Grace
Tritone: -
Perfect 5th: 2nd and 3rd notes of Scarborough Fair
Minor 6th: -
Major 6th: 1st and 2nd notes of My Way
Minor 7th: -
Major 7th: 1st and 3rd notes of Somewhere Over The Rainbow
Octave: 1st and 2nd notes of Singin' In The Rain

A case is not airtight ...
Many cases are plastic moulds or have a vínyl imitation leather wrapping which limit the rate at which relative humidity changes outside the case are reflected inside.

The question is...........Which one should we use?
I would use BrightandClean and SurfinInStereo. There is just enough delay used on one (or both) that panning one half way to the left and the other half way to the right they have a nice stereo separation, slightly jangly, reminding of The Byrds, and that would leave the centre free for rkl312's vocal to sit unhindered.

Mandy, is there a chance you could put a copy on box.com or make the Soundcloud file downloadable (edit the track, click on permissions, download is top left)?

I have been using the VOX Bass Amplug for some years now to rehearse quietly as I live in a flat. I find it really useful.
If you sit to play then a short mono 1/4" extension cable will avoid risking damaging your Amplug.

... lyric ideas ... Harder to do than expected.
You may find it easier once we have the drums, bass and guitar recorded, especially the guitar.
NB. Don't forget that my recording was purely to demonstrate the song structure; I have done my part in this collaboration so someone else will be playing the rhythm guitar part and that means the feel of the song is likely to be different.

I'm unclear what the dots mean and the a and e on the 1st and 3rd beats. So if someone wants to post how it should sound I would be grateful!
Here is a recording simply to demonstrate the song structure, chords and tempo.

Let's start at the beginning, with item 1.
Full stops (UK), periods (US) or dots (if you prefer) indicate the start of a new bar, written that way so that you know that, for example, D and A on the first line are beats 1 and 3 of the second bar (or measure).
4/4, key of A, 124bpm
Intro (4 bars):
.A .D A
.A .E AChorus (8 bars):
.A .D A
.A .E A
.A .D A
.A .E AVerse:
.C#m .F#m
.Bm .E
.C#m .F#m
.Bm .EChorus:
.A .D A
.A .E A
.A .D A
.A .E AInstrumental verse:
.C#m .F#m
.Bm .E
.C#m .F#m
.Bm .EChorus:
.A .D A
.A .E A
.A .D A
.A .E ARefrain: (the last line of the chorus repeated twice):
.A .E A
.A .E AClosing chord (to match the drum track):
.A- 2

How to decide what to play? By this I assume you mean rhythm guitar. I tend to listen to the first line of the verse and the chorus and find what rhytm fits the rhythm and accents in the melody in each instance. Sometimes just down strums create the feeling of chugging and can be helpful if the song has a pre-chorus, eg. My Jesus, My Saviour (Darlene Zschech),
How to avoid overplaying? If in doubt about what to play, start by playing less than you would as you can always add to it as the songs builds. If you are playing a ballad, maybe just one strum at the start of each bar is enough for a section. If you are playing an up-tempo song then try backing off on how many strings you strum. Start by trying just the top 3 or 4 strings and only using all 6 when you need the accent of a full chord.
I feel like I am suggesting too much. I don't know you but your questions seem to imply that you are at the start of playing live. If that is so, just relax and play something simple. Much of this stuff will come naturally once you feel comfortable playing with others.
Keep playing, keep reporting back and asking further questions.

Yesterday I ordered a CD of Louis Jordan, His blues was defined as Jump Blues, a combination of blues and some brass from a big band.
Among his best known songs is CHoo Choo Ch'Boogie:

Cindy, just a question: if you are going to burn a CD then why do you not accept CD quality recordings, ie. 44.1 kHz 16 bit WAV (or AIFF)?

That is interesting, Tuninghead. My L&MG package, bought new in 2012, came with 20 DVDs with the lessons and worshops on plus 5 Play-Along CDs. Maybe there is a newer version or I am missing a CD; I don't know. Which CD or DVD are your 3 songs on?

Back in 2012 there were requests for the tempos of the tracks on the L&MG Play-Along CDs, so I measured each one. Here is the list again for Steve's new site.

Colder, check with your worship group leader as to what is specifically required for your group.
Generally speaking, I would say that your leader needs to see that you are walking daily with God and that you are able to play basic chords along with others. Simple as that. If you can play along to a metronome or the recordings you have bought that will be proof enough.
Once you are in the worship band and are gaining competence and confidence, listen to what others are playing and think about how you can help embellish the songs to help worshippers at your church by having the music say what the lyrics say. Check with the others what is needed or wanted from your playing.

Well, we are almost there; I think we are just waiting on rkl312 for a title.
In the meantime, Mandy asked if I would do the final mix. Here it is in whichever flavour takes your fancy: MP3, AAC, WAV (CD format, 16 bit 44.1 kHz).
