It is actually a group of about eight patches which match each of the Shadows top songs.Β The patch "Apache" is in this group. I can't gallop yet, still walk'in.

Ron, a gentleman never tells, it was puppy love.

Not a bad list for instrumentals. I would however substitute Hawaii 50 with Apache.
Also #7 has a soft spot in my heart for a first ever romance.

I have always been a big fan of Hank Marvin and the Shadows sound. My amp is a Boss Katana MKII which uses digital patches (8) to give the user different sounds for different songs. I have found a patch (Casting a Shadow) which closely matches the double echo (delay) Shadows sound.

The song Apache has been one of my favourite songs since I was a teen. Although the Beatles were the really big deal in the sixties, I became a fan of the Ventures instrumentals. Learning to play Apache had me humming and thinking of the melody in my head for days on end. It is not a difficult song to learn but like you, the galloping portion is still elusive.

Missing but on my list:
Richie Sambora (Bon Jovi)

That was very good rendition of an old classic folk song Wim, great tempo throughout. The timing of your post is uncanny. Last week we watched a movie on Netflix, titled "1917". At one point in the movie, the troops were resting in the woods before a battle. At this time one of the soldiers sang, "Wayfaring Stranger", it was haunting to listen to given their situation. I turned to my wife and said, I have to learn how to play this song. Hopefully I can learn to play it as well as you have demonstrated.

That's a beauty Mike. If this guitar sounds as good as it looks, you will find many hours of pleasure.

Well done Mike, many hours of practice have paid off in a beautiful rendition of a great song. You really nailed those harmonics, super job.

This makes it a great time to go digital. Don't have tubes in TVs today, progress baby, progress.

I watched this video on βThe Jazz Guitarβ forum. Well produced with a moving beat.

To have been part of the "Woodstock" summer , today you would have to be in the seventies or eighties age demographic. This age group probably accounts for a small percentage of forum memberships today, hence the lack of news. I remember that summer very clearly, being in my last year of college. Along with three of my buddies, we jumped in the car and headed for Woodstock. We made it as far as Watertown, NY where we were side tracked by a group of girls. Never made it to Woodstock, one of my regrets but we did have a fantastic weekend and one of my buddies married the girl he met.
I am also a big fan of Carlos and was lucky enough to watch him at a concert in Toronto. Better yet, the warm up band was the Doobie Brothers.

I have been using the Fishman Loudbox Mini for my acoustic guitar and have been very pleased with it.

As for your future looper purchase, I have been using the EHX 720. Almost purchased the Ditto but with the EHX720 I can save 10 loops, that swung it for me.

Kathy, if you are in Canada, I would suggest Solo Guitars. They have a wide range of styles and reasonable prices.
Six years ago I purchased the Solo ADK-10 DIY Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Kit for $250 CAD. It was a learning but fun experience. This guitar now stays at the cottage for campfire songs with the Grandkids.

I agree with what you are saying Ron. I do think that every player should understand how different effects change the sound of the music. Pick any effect and you will find a wealth of information on the internet for free. My point about the βRabbit Holeβ was about spending a lot of money on pedals. The initial excitement (GAS) of adding a new effect pedal will dissipate and it will sit in the closet. That was my experience when the light came on. I put four pedals in a box, went down to L&M and traded them in on a Boss ME-80. It was simple to learn and easy to use. I prefer to spend my time learning how to play rather than tweaking the electronics.
Good video, excellent guitarist and speaks well to get the message across. The main emphasis was on the Fractal FM3 which is way out of my price range.
Simply put, learn about the various effects, then go straight to a multi-effect digital processor (there are many choices) that fits your budget and save money in the long run.

Yes, it is a good review. But I have taken a different path after falling into the pedal board "Rabbit Hole". I am a firm believer in the Multi effects processors (Personally, I use the Boss ME-80). If you wish to have that certain sound for a song that you are learning, find a patch for the song, save it and with a couple of clicks on the foot switch, bingo!Β Building a pedal board gets very expensive vs a multi effects processor which will have more sounds than you could ever use.

Boss Katana at home & Fender Mustang LT25 at the cottage. Both excellent for what I want them to do & great price.

Very good Strings, that was smooth and well played.

Well done, Nairon, that sounded good. I would suggest turning down the volume on the backing track so you can highlight the sound of the guitar.

Thank you for your likes and comments. The thing that I really like about this L & M family is how members from around the world, all on the same journey, help and encourage each other, with their likes and comments, to improve as guitarists.
Wim: After attempting to read the Reaper manual, I was lost. The Kenny Gioia videos are very educational in all aspects of the program. Plus, easy to follow.

This is my submission for the May Recording Challenge, a cover version of the Beatles hit, "Yesterday". It was my first try at using a DAW with Reaper.Β (yes, I have finally fell into the rabbit hole of the DAW crowd) The recording was made using an Eastman T486 into a Boss ME-80, then direct into a Focusrite 2i2 Scarlett. For a backing track I used an instrumental version by The String Quartet on You Tube.

Well Arju, you have a wealth of information from the previous posters. For my two cents you have to remember that this course is not a race and it must be fun. Your interest in becoming a guitarist will drive your pace. Be aware of the inevitable roadblocks that must be worked through. Personally, I use the roadblock as a time to take a break and learn to play some new songs. But I cannot emphasize enough that this journey must be enjoyable, otherwise, why bother.
