I am currently working on osmosis, if I keep buying resources surely some of them will be absorbed just from proximity, right???

UncleHammy, I took the blues scale boxes chart and I've been putting it under my pillow every night.  But dang, it doesn't seem to be working.  >:(  I thought it would.

  2. I can't remember if I had posted about this at our old home or not.  Even if so, maybe since it's coming out next month a reminder is appropriate.  "Life in 12 Bars" a full length documentary about Eric Clapton will air February 10 on Showtime.

Here is more information about it and the trailer.  For us Clapton fans it looks fascinating.

Tuninghead, session ten is a good test for your barre chords. Its not that difficult  if you give it some time and will help with your coordination....

Tuninghead, what a great point Triple-o makes!  So much so that I wish I would have reflected more before my post.  I had made somewhat of a big deal of this over at L&MG.  I thought my barre chords were pretty good.  Until I got to 10.  Even though I didn't finish 10 I know that my barre chords are now a lot better having tried fingerstyle.

I have been looking forward to session 10 since I started the course.  However I have been stuck in session 7 and 8 for embarrassing 7 months!

rkl312, then I should be really embarrassed!  :$:o  If I recall, without looking at my log, I think I took about 9 months.

  4. Tuninghead, I am the wrong one to comment on this.  If you look at my sig you can see that I did not finish 10.  But I worked on it for months.  So it is hard, at least it was for me..  At session 10 is when we start to get into "specialization" in our L&MG journey.  After that you get into Blues, Pentatonics (used in a lot of different genres), Rock, Jazz, etc.

So I would not skip session 10 because of intimidation.  But if you are absolutely certain you're never going to play Fingerstyle you could almost justify skipping it based on wanting to move on to another genre.  JMHO.

Why not start it and see what you think?  Spend a week or two.  You might find you like it.  I'm certainly not sorry I spent some time there and it probably helped my coordination.  In fact, in the not too distant future I'm going to go back and finish it up.

  5. Very comprehensive list, Brad.  Thank you.  I am especially interested in the " Guitar Capo Mastery".  I am about ready to buy one and try using it so perfect timing.

I finished up Eric Clapton's eponymous autobiography a year or two ago.  There was nothing in it that hadn't been covered in the press or documentaries.  But a Clapton fan is still probably going to find it interesting. I did.

I just started Carlos Santana's autobiography, "The Universal Tone".  I'm not far enough into it to recommend it or not but so far it has been very interesting.

  6. As Triple-o said, I don't know of a list of songs " to learn as the course progresss ".  But if you are studying blues there are certain popular songs that, when you go out to a blues jam, that are often played.  These are the ones that you should probably learn in preparation going out to jam.

Griff Hamlin posted an unofficial 20 Most Played Blues Jam Tunes.  It inclueds the usual suspects such as Stormy Monday, Hoochie Coochie Man, Tore Down, Sweet Home Chicago, etc.  These would be good ones to study as you go along.

  7. I have the Fundamental Changes "The Chicago Blues Guitar Method" and it looks good.  I really haven't studied it yet.  The download itself wasn't a big deal to me.  But Joseph, I gave you the email address to get the download.  Do you have to email me every 5 minutes now?!?!  (Or so it seems :$)

  8. And Cap you should be stunned.  One stunning guitar.  I had asked you before about HB's.  I didn't move on the one before.  And didn't move Sunday on the one at CME simply because it was way out of my budget!  I get home and find one on Reverb a 2-3 hour drive from my house! It has "Archtop" pickups.  Do you haave any thoughts on those?  And it is "Whale Blue" finish which I think is a little darker than yours.
