Headless guitars have been around for years. I played one (don't remember what brand) years ago, and found it strange and uncomfortable. It felt like my left hand was sliding off the edge of a cliff, because there was no headstock there. I have never played one since. I'm sure it's something you have to get used to.

My 18 watt Sommatone Slick 18 has plenty of power for a bar gig, in fact, I never turned it past four or five.

I think you meant DIY, didn't you? I too would recommend Precision Guitar kits. I have been mulling over a purchase from them for a long time. I have always wanted a double cutaway Les Paul TV Yellow Junior. All told, it would cost me about $1000 or so for all the parts and to have it assembled and done in a relic style finish.
