I have a non-cutaway with P-90s. The build quality is excellent. Sounds great and very light. My only suggestion would be to get a cutaway for easier access to the 12th fret etc.

Another option is the Korg Pandora. You plug the guitar into and listen with headphones. The beauty of this is that you can use your choice of headphones.

There are over 120 preset sounds. I think you can use it as an effects pedal if you put it into an amp rather than using headphones.

My Guild M-20 came with a humidifier built into the hard case just above the sound hole. An excellent idea.

I acquired this guitar last Monday. It is a parlour  style guitar with 2 P90s. It sounds great unplugged, perfect for a quiet practice. It is relatively light but is not that light. It sounds great in all 3 pickup positions. Sound wise it sounds a bit like a cross between an Epi Casino and a Thinline Tele with P90s.

I suggest that you get your wife to watch some youTube videos to get a rough idea of the type of guitar she may be interested in trying out when she visits a store.

My first electrics were Yamaha Pacificas and hey were great bang for your buck. I have a Squier Custom Vibe Thinline and it is even better. I have an Epiphone Century Inspired by 1966 which is essentially an amplified acoustic that sounds great and is very light.

Remember, it is the guitar that chooses the player to paraphrase JKR.

I got the amp back on Monday. It was a tube. I suspect I was unlucky because I always treat my amps with kid gloves and have barely moved it since it arrived. I will have to give it a workout with my latest pedals. The Beetronics Royal Jelly (Overdrive and Fuzz) and Buzxter (boost).

I acquired one of these late April. It hasn’t had the best reviews and sounds better with Teles than other guitars. It is 5 Watts but can be switched to 1 watt. I’ve been using it for practice. It sounds better with pedals, overdrives, fuzzes and boasts.

Unfortynately, it died sometime on Saturday. Light came on but no sound. It is probably a valve and covered by the warranty but it didn’t even make it to 2 months and it hasn’t had that much use.
