About Me

Hi, my name is Mark. Drlaptop is an old nicname from work. I'm 56 as of March 2018 and used to play bass years ago before going into the Army and then into engineering. I'm a disabled vet and my profile pic is my service dog Sox. Now my kids are grown and I now have time to get back to playing guitar. I figured the course will help me remember a lot of stuff I forgot and get me back into the discipline needed to practice.

I just started working on L&MG towards the end of April 2017 and I'm quite pleased with how well developed and thought out that course is. I am still finishing up my basement with new office, half bath with an electronics and embedded systems lab as my office which will be large enough to not only fulfill my work needs but also can set up my music equipment so I'm not always setting up and tearing down. I'm disabled but far from being unabled. The rehab of my home to accommodate me trying to get back to engineering work I also like to do and a place where I can relearn to enjoy playing music again another thing I always loved to do. I have a multiply handicapped daughter that was born in 1985 and I have always wanted to rededicate my engineering skills from industrial machinery to helping people like my daughter and develop devices and equipment to help them live a normal life or make things easier for them. I met Gina my wife in 2006 and we had both gotten out of bad marriages years before we met. So for Gina and I it was our 2nd marriage. What I loved about my wife Gina is she was very active in the deaf community and always thought of others. So we sort of had the same goals and we helped each other achieve them. Gina herself was disabled as she suffered from a ventral hernia that 10 attempts at surgery had still not been able to correct and she was always in pain and I was there to help her. Gina and I began attending her church she had attended years prior and I got active in the music ministry playing bass. At night Gina loved me practicing.

Gina had bought a keyboard in hopes to learn a couple of years before she met me but she never really did anything with it. I offered to teach her. She wanted to sell it but I said no, leave it one day I'll take the time and relearn how to play keyboards too. It's just a cheap little Yamaha. In 2011 Gina and I with our service dogs started a charity and nonprofit of disabled people trying to reach out and help others that were disabled, Later we began rehabbing our home to accommodate our small company which would include a place where I could develop equipment. Had a parking pad poured out back so I could modify automobiles as needed, bought a milling machine and lathe, welder to make mechanical parts and install wheel chair lifts in my mechanical shop out back of my house with access to the alley. The basement is going to be our offices, half bathroom and my electronics lab. I bought two new development platforms for embedded systems, office equipment, built a small network of computers and server. I even pulled out of storage everything from parts inventory, production and test equipment and soldering stations from an engineering company I owned and ran for 5 years and closed because of my disabilities in 2004. Also made sure everything is at the right height and location for wheel chair access for when I get stuck into one. So the rehab started a few years ago and we are in the home stretch. For Christmas of 2014 Gina bought me a Fender tele and she got to see me play it and I ordered L&MG back then to relearn, but I had to put them in storage until most of the work on the house was done as there wasn't much room and  we didn't want to get the guitar damaged from the work going on. Anyway the house rehab has been going on for 3 years and we are in the home stretch and it almost finished and the charity and nonprofit will be reopening with a whole new engineering department but Gina's health deteriorated and she passed away this last March 16th 2018. Deep inside I know she checks in on me and watches so the company will be reopening in honor of her in the near future. I also dug out the tele and and started the L&MG and I'll be relearning how to play piano and keyboards because like I told Gina.a long time ago.........I always keep my promises to my favorite girl.
