How many practice simple songs like the ones in Lessons 2 to lesson 4 in the work book . when they learn the pentatonic scales and play them songs all over the fret board . I find this great to do . most of the time the pattern stays the same. helps to learn the notes. I even try to jump positions during the song. You can usely play a song in one pentatonic position  in two places.  Just asking.

I find that the song hits, fingerstyle course and learning to play the scales in 3rds is pretty much taking up my practice time for the time being. It just so easy to get side tracked with new material available. I have a stack of material and at the rate I grasp things   I will be “Dust in the wind” long before I make a dent in it.

Doug.

I think Triple-O is referencing Scales Mastery Intermediate Level of Steve Krenz.  For instance, the C scale he plays:

C E D F E G F A G B A C B D C (easier to play than to spell out).  He then reverses the pattern: C A B G A F G E F D E C D B C (backwards is a killer to spell out). 🤔

He does this pattern with all of the scales in the workout.

Blue Dog and  Doug

I am using Acoustic  Guitar Sept. 2013 and March 2013 issues. The articles are Patterns in thirds and Soloing  with thirds. Thanks for the link, I made the mistake of stopping my subscription in 2015.
