Last night my little acoustic trio had its first public gig. We played at a private party last summer but this was our first go at an open event at a small brewer in town.  Microbreweries are big in the Northwest and this is one of them . The place was packed when we arrived and we added our own friends and families , so space was very limited for us to set up in. That said, we had a great time and everyone seemed to really enjoy our Americana style of music. Not without a few hiccups but only the musically astute would notice. I was exhausted after singing and playing while standing for two plus hours. I am an old man now ?. The owner loved us and wants us back.

Tomorrow I go looking for a stooll

Greg

@gotto   Congratulations on this appearance Greg !  Sounds like a wonderful (albeit exhausting ) experience!  I'm glad it came off so well for you. Having played in public just once "off the cuff" I know how it can be a nervous yet elating experience when finished. Here's to you and your band... many more! ?

(next time you can show up earlier or make sure the owner leaves space for the Star Attraction, so at least you can sit down!)

ps Any video or audio recording of the performance?

My video-taking son couldn’t make it. A snow event last night, not common here , kept him home. Many photos and videos by others in attendance including the bar owners son. I  am trying to see what I can round up. Time for a Facebook page

Just super Greg, nights like this will send your confidence soaring. Nothing like playing in front of a crowd. Your heart begins to flutter, your fingers try to stop working and you start looking for a place to hide. Luckily the brain takes over and the songs come automatically. I would suggest a high stool, not standing but not sitting.

Greg,

I have been using a TOUR TOUGH GUITAR STOOL for 8 years now, the cushioned seat is still as good as  new!  The foot rest is adjustable and very sturdy!  Amazon is out of them and don't when they will have them again, but, there is presently a new one on Reverb.com for $79.99, I'm pretty sure that's what I paid for mine 8 years ago!  The seat folds down for easy transport to gigs! I LOVE mine !   Just saying....

Good Luck with your gigs!

Thx for the advice. I will check it out. My sister took a photo and tried to send me a video but it didn’t come through to me. Me, with the hat... looks pretty serious with 3 shoe gazers

Greg,  Thank you for sharing this experience.  Mike perhaps said it best.  It is always encouraging and inspiring to hear of our guitar family members taking what we have learned and "step out and gig live".

It plants that thought that maybe we too can actually do the same someday.

Thanks again for posting this.

Ha ha... pro?  Not even close, but very fortunate to have acquired a bunch of musical friends who like to share music with each other. Just got word that we have several inquiries already to play at other venues in town. Holy smokes. I have foot surgery in 2 weeks with 6 weeks on full crutches. This could be interesting.....

Greg

I am looking forward to hanging with my song writing buddy also, Ian. It’s going to be fun
