Recently my feet got tangled up in a guitar cable when I got up to go into another room, went down fairly hard on my knees. Luckily, I was not seriously hurt. So, I started thinking about looking into wireless guitar systems.  I play mostly at home, but have been participating in a blues jam once a month at a local tavern.  While checking the different systems with price in mind and the fact I'm not going to be playing at Madison Square Garden or Carnegie Hall anytime soon, I came across the U2 Xvive wireless guitar system. There is a video on Guitar Center on this system. Its range is a 100 feet.   I have had mine a few days and used it with 3 different guitars, Strat, Telecaster and ES 355 with 3 different amps, Blues Junior, Mustang II and Champion 600.   I can sum up the performance by saying I love this system,. its perfect for what I do.The sound through the amps is great!   It could not be any simpler, plug the transmitter in the guitar and the receiver jack in the amp input, and you are in business!  The black system is $154.90,  the other colors are 5 dollars less. I highly recommend it to anyone who would like to be wireless on a small budget.  The only thing to be aware of is that it does not work with an acoustic guitar that has a battery operated preamp onboard the guitar, I can only guess it cancels out the signal somehow.

I really never thought about using one but now you have my ears perked up... Thanks Dan nice review .

Now can anyone also let us know what other one , reasonably priced also works with an acoustic or is the problem always the same? I am not experienced at all with these systems.  Thanks in advance

The Xvive wireless will apparently work with certain acoustic guitars, I watched the video which I hopefully will attach to this post, and the guy in the video also played an acoustic. For my own satisfaction, I tried it with my Martin DRS2, which has a 9 volt battery for the pre-amp, and then with my Little Martin LX1E, which has a battery, however the battery is for the onboard tuner.  Long story short, the DRS2 with the battery for the pre-amp, did not work, as also noted by one of the reviewers, HOWEVER, with the LX1E Little Martin it DID work.   Check out this video....

@Dan Brown are you going to take it with and use it when Joe B calls you to come on stage and jam with him on the cruise?

Very cool and thanks for the nice review! I've always considered doing this.

Where on the Jersey Shore are you Dan? I'm in Cherry Hill, so not far from you! I'm also curious what tavern near you has a blues jam? I've been looking for a place to check out since moving here a few years ago.

@Dan Brown Thanks for the video report... a very cool product. The way of the future I expect. I wonder why some major guitar manufacturers haven't (to my knowledge) included this feature in their guitars, instead of wonky  robot tuners and a confusing array of tone circuits?

Man that would be so cool. We are now getting BlueTooth enabled amps, as well. Wireless  guitars out of the box would be amazing!

I also wonder why pedal companies haven't moved over to USB power. No electrical noise and much easier to make power supplies for. So either plug them up to charge, or make a thin power strip to power all your pedals under a board. Then you wouldn't have to worry about mA coverage either.
