I have got ask, what happened to the Learn&Master forum?  How did this forum come about.  I have been wondering about this for awhile.  Just have to ask.

Learn & Master was owned by another company that Steve originally worked with to produce the course.  They kind of stopped caring about the message board and it was falling apart.  Guitar Gathering is owned by Steve and so it is VERY WELL maintained.  This is the place to be now!

@Bob63047 we were getting a very high proportion of spam posters on the old site, lots of which were not even writing in the language of the forum. And then ........ there was a big problem with the site security certificate, I (and many others) kept getting security warnings and our devices were "blocking" the site, it lasted for weeks and weeks. I do not think that I have seen any spam posts here where it felt like I was reporting them every day on the "old" forum (I am on UK time so in the early morning when I go on the forum it is the middle of the night for our excellent administrators). I think the old site was built using old technology but this site is a lot more advanced .

I am glad that you are here with us Bob!

Ben @bwillard summed  up the history succinctly. Learn and Master Guitar, along with all the L&M courses, painting, photography, etc., is owned by Legacy Learning Systems.  Legacy is owned by a Gabriel Smith in Nashville.  If you look back at the traffic on the Learn and Master forum the traffic was entirely us guitar folks. We were the only ones supporting the forum.  This does not suggest any relative support among the different courses in terms of sales, just forum numbers.  The other forums would go months without a post.  Towards the end the spam was getting progressively worse, to the point we could not keep up with it.  And there were the security issues @Nutty 1 described.  In the face of this these problems Legacy seemed to show little interest in committing any resources to resolving them.

Fortunately, our leader decided to make a break and so here we are.   Bob, I'm glad you made it over here.  I think just about everyone has.  Except one!  There is one guy that keeps posting over at L&MG.  He never gets a response and I have gone over there repeatedly and encouraged him to sign up here but he doesn't!  I guess he enjoys his time with the spammers!!!!!???
