Thank you, Neil.  I will check out Steve Krenz's program.  It is Gibson's Learn & Master Guitar with Steve Krenz?

Some advice I received was: find which course works for you and stick with it. Don't mix courses which could see you at odds in your development. Would you (or anyone else) agree?  I'm willing to do more work and more practice, I don't expect this to be easy.  Rising through the ranks of competition bowling made me understand the need for focused, disciplined practice and I did experience on occasion how practicing two different mechanics can be at odds.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Has anyone worked two different programs with success?

Life has a way of happening. I wish you the best of luck and plenty of success.

Yes @Jay.A   this one; https://gx169.infusionsoft.app/app/storeFront/showProductDetail?productId=5

Be sure to get the Bonus Book too; https://gx169.infusionsoft.app/app/storeFront/showProductDetail?productId=13

Yes I would agree that FOCUS is essential to learning guitar well, and you should stick with this program and NOT divert from it too much. Steve does say that you can use other "resources" like Song Hits, or Easy Pop Melodies https://gx169.infusionsoft.app/app/storeFront/showProductDetail?productId=45  for example, BUT the MAIN FOCUS should be the core course. You can supplement this with Live Lessons.

Some of our graduates like Collin Hill have gone onto professional /semi-professional careers in music.

With the discipline you're accustomed to, you should do very well. All the Best! Neil

After a longer than expected time to be away from. "even before the Guitar Gatherings" Life happened,  So Glad to see familiar members still around.  I never have been much on Computers and hope I can get some direction on learning to play my 2015 ES-335 / 390 of courser but more concerned about becoming a grateful student.  Blessings and peace to all!

Thank you Greg,  Thanks for the kudo's on my Guitar.  It is a 2015 Gibson ES-335 figured with 390 neck.  They made 100 of them that year.  I am somewhat of little guy so the slim neck works really good for me.  I sold my Fender Deluxe Reverb 65' Reissue because it was too heavy for me and I am 100% disabled and in need of 3 more surgeries.  I first started taking guitar lessons when I was 10 years old in 1970 and actually learned how to play "On Top of Old Smokey" lol

Thank you for the welcome Greg!

Returning to the L&MG community after a number of years away.  I too have the pre-Gibson version, which I purchased way back in 2007.  I have built three guitars, 1 from scratch an two from parts, all electric.  I have two other guitars which I purchased.  and Epiphone Dot Studio, and a PRS Custom 24.  I have also designed and built a tube amp to go with my guitars.

I have a neighbor that is getting into guitar so the best way to learn is to teach.  Have to stay a step ahead as it were.  I play for my church and myself. would like to get out and do some non-church performances but feel I need to get better.  That is one of the reasons I am coming back.

That is about it for my guitar journey.

@Mike Sapp Welcome back Mike ! It seems like we have had several folks return from "away" lately. As you know, the base course here has always been the Learn and Master Guitar program that Steve K wrote and produced about 10 (?) years ago. But now you'll find in addition to that Steve has produced some great "Fretboard Workouts" lessons (available for download in the store) as well as the regular YouTube  Guitar Gathering broadcasts. So along with the original materials there is plenty to help you improve, so you can be more confident about playing "out". By the way, I believe playing in church like @Eracer_Team-DougH does (pre - pandemic) is a very important ministry. All the best; N

Hey everyone, I started the L&M series recently. Still on session three. Loving the course so I decided to check out the forum. Looking forward to connecting. Honestly, I'm hoping to eventually get to a level where I can do some small gigs but if not I'll still look forward to playing for the family.

I've been training with all of Steve's materials and related supplemental resources for four years.  My goal now is to integrate the materials to a personal playing style.  Where I enjoyed playing and learning the variety of genres covered in the training, I have set my sights on modern blues with a jazzy, rock bent for now.

Hi! My name is LV. I currently live in Northern OK. I just started playing guitar. I have the original Learn And Master Guitar course that was given to me by a friend that said he used it to learn to play, and he plays great! I have and Epiphone DR acoustic guitar, and I hope I can get to be as good as my friend. I'm using the same course, and I have him to help teach me, so I should be alright!

@LVHook welcome aboard.

LMG is a great learn course, teaches reading music,  music theory besides playing.

It's not heavy on guitar tabs,  it really wants you to become a real musician.

There are a number of great players here on the site. (The replacement home for LMG).

Steve still does live lessons Tuesdays and has other resource videos in the link at top call Store, still has a summer conference and Fall Fingerstyle retreat.

Steve's smiling encouraging face will always be there when you turn on those DVD'S

LV, welcome to you.  I will second what Doug just said.  L&MG was never intended (in my estimation) to be the easiest course.  It was intended to teach you to be a complete musician, including a knowledge of reading music and of theory.  Or, as Doug said, "a real musician".

The fact that you have your friend, that gave you the course, to bounce questions off of should be a plus.  Or anytime you have a question or get discouraged come here and post on the forum.  There are a lot of knowledgeable, helpful guitarists on here.  And definitely attend Steve's Live Lessons on Tuesday nights.

And please keep us up to date on your progress.

Professor G (yes I'm a retired English Prof) here. Greetings from So Cal. Been playing for over 5 decades. Love gear, and play rock, metal, drop tunings, acoustic, blues. Can't play slide, a flying V or a 7 string, but love everything else. Got a few guitars and one signed (wearing off :() by Zakk and BLS and another by Dave and Megadeth. Love gear, and would like to be better at recording. 1861570229_image0(5).thumb.jpeg.0bbb2338c3dad77a4dd785bf52419aef.jpeg1444956898_image1(3).thumb.jpeg.fd5d05fdfe06c9cb358153cb2ef863dd.jpeg11?

Hello everyone!

I'm back and giving it another try!  If I count the time I was 6, this is my third attempt (second with L&M Guitar).  I’ve had the program for several years and was registered on the old site. I got to the 5th lesson the first time and was doing O.k.  I developed a lump on my left thumb so I put it down.  Probably from gripping the neck too tight.  Ended up being a few years so I’m starting over!

Still using my 2010 Epiphone G-400 (1966 SG reissue) to play.  I had a PRS SE-22 but had to pawn it.  I will be getting another PRS some day because I loved that one!  I'm using the amp that came with the pack (Epiphone Studio-15R) but I'm upgrading soon.  Still haven't decided between a Katana or Mustang!

Looking forward to playing!

@F Scott, welcome back and good luck to you.  Lots of people, in the years that I have been here, have started, set the guitar down for a while, and restarted.  Keep us posted on how you are doing.  Be sure and come here and post if you have a question or get frustrated.

Hello everyone.

I'm Camper on this site. Why "Camper", well... I grew up camping along the Mississippi River in what people call the "Quad Cities" there in Illinois. Moline, East Moline, Rock Island and Davenport Iowa.

I served in the USAF during the Vietnam War and spent time in Asia. I somehow ended up in Japan and would you believe its 2023 and I'm in Japan. I returned to Japan in 1993 with the family.

I'm a full -time cyclist here. ( not pro ) But I cycle Japan. I have a blog on a cycling forum if anyone here wants to see my adventures, let me know and I'll send you a link.

My interest in life these days is to enjoy what the Lord has given us. I cherish everyday here and I do my best to get out and see the beautiful nature that God has provided us with.

I joined a while back but I never posted here because I was always cycling and just completely busy. Steve has the live stream and for me it is 10 am in the morning, Tokyo time. It's great timing for me.

As for being a guitar player, well, I tell people I have a guitar. LOL.  My strength is in song writing.  I write my own songs and strum the guitar with melody notes in the background. That is my style, oh, I can't sing, so I sing like talking, my style. Country music is what I was brought up on. So I guess that really had a big impact on my songwriting.

My gear:

Gibson Les Paul Studio 2013 model. Its the year Gibson used a different wood for the neck.

A Donner Telecaster style guitar.  Check out the Youtubes on this one. Great value. Under $200.

A Squire Fender Bronco short scale bass

Fender 40 watt bass amp

A Boss Katana 7 watt amp ( a fun little amp

I also have 2 ukuleles.

Well, I'm happy now to be part of this friendly community of guitar player.

@camper star, welcome to you and good luck to you in your guitar learning journey.  You have access here to the best guitar teacher on the planet in Steve Krenz and he is always willing to answer any question you may have.  You also have a very friendly, knowledgeable group of forum members always willing to help.  Don't hesitate to exploit both these resources.

I have been to Quad Cities many time in my professional career.  What has always been interesting to me is it seems no one in the Quad Cities can explain why it is called that when there are actually more than four cities!😏😉.  Shouldn't it be septi Cities if one includes Bettendorf, Silvis and Hampton?

And @camper star all future responses will be from members far more helpful and informative than me and silliness like this😆
