Hey Danny,

I like it. It has a great groove. Did you play the drums on a drum kit or did you program it?

One fine day I would like to learn to play bass guitar as well.

Wim.

Still working on mastering pentatonics.

This George Harrison style solo is a great exercise on playing the major pentatonic scale all over the neck.
Thanks for listening.

Angus Young was the reason I bought my first electric at the age of 13. About 38 years later, I am finally able to play some solo "in the style of". Yeah, all those waisted years...

This is a final solo from the Classic Rock course I just finished. It is in Angus Young style again, just like the previous one. I realize I have some work to do to improve my vibrato. String bends with vibrato on top are a real challenge.

Wim, really nice.  Those string bends may have been challenging but one wouldn't know it.  Very tasty bends.

It's my goal to go beyond playing pentatonics, so I am working on the natural minor scale now.

I was looking for some songs in a minor key to learn to use this scale and found a nice one on the ActiveMelody site.

It contains a typical walk down that can be played on a minor chord and that might sound familiar from Michelle (Beatles) or Bang Bang (Cher and Nancy Sinatra).

For sure a fun one to learn.

Wim

Consider this a progress report!  I really wanted, intended to support @Nutty 1's Monthly Recording Challenge with a Christmas song.  I just didn't get it done in time, sorry Mandy; this was (is) more challenging than I anticipated.  So my fall back is, if I can get it done, to post it in this month's Challenge which is Blues.  The title of this is, after all, "Jingle Bells Blues".

I have completed the Chorus and Melody and am now ready to tackle the solo which I know is going to be very chewy.  There are a couple riffs that I may need to "dumb down".  And it is going to take awhile. And, my intent is to record a separate track with my playing the rhythm.  It came with a couple different backing tracks.  This is my playing over the one with drums, bass and rhythm guitar.  I'm going to record my playing rhythm over the one with just bass and drums.  Then I'll mix my playing chorus, melody and solo.

And, in the interest of full disclosure this is at about 90% speed.  Maybe by the time I get done I can do 100%.  You'll see when I came from the melody back to chorus I struggled with the first chord.

Technical stuff: PRS Pauls into a POD HD 500X. Amp sim of a Fender Twin Reverb, 2x12 cab, a little bit of distortion with tube screamer, a little delay, and a little reverb.

Suggestions, criticisms are encouraged.

Greg,

Thanks for your kind words. Your encouragement means a lot to me.

I only play live for my family members, but I am happy to share my recordings on this and some other guitar forums.

It might sound silly, but it makes me proud that my recordings have been played about 5000 times in total by now on soundcloud.

I realize I sound like a teenager chasing "likes" on Facebook now 😀.

Wim.

Here's my offering of " Autumn Leaves" , a natural choice and "must know" for anyone who plays or wants to play jazz...

This is the basic melody version; thinking I'll work on the recording the embellished version in the future (a work in progress) I haven't recorded for about a year so it took a bit of a refresh of memory on using a DAW, (I played the rhythm and melody tracks no electronic stuff) with a bit of reverb and compression.recording, and mixing, as well as learning the song. (When I hear a good track someone has made, I can certainly appreciate how difficult it can be to get a decent clean take of both parts and a "listenable" recording.)

I hope you enjoy it, and your constructive comments are appreciated 🙂

All the Best; Neil

PS; I've attached here the "correct " Chord Chart and the Lead Sheet with Tab (in Gm)  for those of you who want to have a go at this classic song. Anyone who has completed the "Fretboard Workout - Jazz Chords " course should be able to play this.

@Wim VD1

Thanks very much Wim. I used a Gibson ES-137 semi-hollow guitar direct to Reaper 6.0 DAW.

(Im still working on getting the right jazz tone plug in.)
