From Reverb: Six Guitars that Tried to Predict the Future and Failed

Personally, I would like to try the Ultratone.

Hey - what do you know, here is one for sale.

That SynthAxe looks interesting, but what's baffling is that Firebird X. After I got done setting up all those accessories it'd be time to go to bed.

In a way, Henry was carrying on Les Paul's work on that one.  The Firebird X is the "Les Paul Recording Model" of its era.

Both were flops in the market.  Those that do not study History are doomed to repeat it.

I saw that Gibson Firebird X when I was researching guitars to buy my first really good one. (My ES335) I thought "What the Heck IS that thing? "  Bafflling array of electronics, wizz bang knobs and lights.. and EXPENSIVE.  My next thought was, if you want that, why not just buy a synthesizer and be done with the strings... amounts to the same thing.

I actually almost purchased a Firebird X.  I sat down and played it.  It had ALL of the accessories (and there are a lot - as I remember there were 4 bags that came with it).  I decided to buy it and they started ringing me up.  They couldn't get the computer to accept the purchase.  Then they realized that the guitar was already sold.  It should have never been out on the floor.  Missed it by THIS much! :)
