Hello fellow guitarists,

I just learned Fields of Gold by Sting arr. by Pete Huttliger. It is in DADGAD and that is the only piece I can play in that tuning. Any suggestions on other pieces I could learn?

Thanks

Pat

Pat,

I would investigate Pierre Bensusan (sp) if DADGAD is your interest.  He specializes in different tunings and DADGAD is one of them.  Did I mention he is an amazing guitarist as well (and worth catching a live performance if possible)?

Good luck in your search,

Bryan

Laurence Juber plays in DADGAD probably around 75% of the time. He's done a lot of covers, primarily Beatles tunes (he was Paul McCartney's guitarist in the band Wings), but he also has a lot of original material. One of my favorites is "The White Pass Trail." I've been working on it for a while now, and hope to record it soon. Here's his original recorded version:

Pat,

I also think of Joni Mitchell when talking of alternate tunings, but I'm not sure if DADGAD was one of them.  A fellow Canadian who plays in alternate tunings is Don Ross.  My fingers and hands tire just listening to him play.

Mike's audio file above isn't a bad place to look either.  Nice on the ears.

Enjoy your weekend

My guitar instructor, who's a jazz/fusion/prog/everything guy has one of his books. It's crazy, the complexity of it - the millions of chord charts and his encyclopedic knowledge of theory. Wonderful player for sure.

Jimmie Page played  in DADGAD on some of his work.  I think The Rain Song and Kashmir are both in DADGAD and can be found on you-tube lessons.
