Boss Katana at home & Fender Mustang LT25 at the cottage. Both excellent for what I want them to do & great price.

Sort of a strange list really.  Pretty much any amp would do for absolute beginners and several amps in the list seem targeted to the parents of those beginners that don't want to spend a bunch not knowing if the learner will stick with it.  Then there are a group that would take a beginner through their first gigs .  I'm not familiar with the Fender Pro Jr but a 15 watt tube amp can easily be a gigging amp and is pretty much in a different price class than the rest of this list, yet still at the very low end of tube amp prices.  Others are sort of niche amps more suited to intermediate players that need compact low volume amps.

I'm a fan of the Katana as a "best in price range" choice.

I'll be the first to admit, I don't have a lot of experience with different amps, but I'm in the Boss Katana camp as well.    I chose one as my first amp and so far, it does everything I need it to do, but I'm sure at some point I may want to try a tube amp.

I  am guilty of too many amps, digital and tube, including boutiques. That said, the Yamaha lunchbox is my "throw in the suitcase when I go out of town" amp. It's been to the Gathering 3 times . It is a fun little practice amp and is so convenient to traveling with.  It also gets more playing time than most of my tube amps. My throw in the car for a quick jam amp is a Roland Cube 60 watt, that I bought used. It is a workhorse, seemingly indestructible and actually desirable from some of my musician friends for these reasons. Knowing its versatility, I would think the Roland Street Cube would be a similar type amp for a beginner.  I currently use a Kemper or Fractal Ax8 for band play, not advised for beginners.

I have also been exposed to the  Sharp amp and my conclusion is that it is the absolute best beginner amp for features, tone and cost. It is not on this years top 14 amp list , but I will bet it easily make next years.
