Pat Metheny Live

Recommended Posts

I got to see Pat Metheny at Prescott Park in Portsmouth, NH. Our seats were off to the side so I didn't see much, but the music was great. He played with a drummer, keyboard player, and a double bass player. I managed to capture this brief video before someone stopped me to tell me "no cameras allowed".

Randy, I am sure that you are whetting DianeB's appetite.  I bet she will catch him next month or in October at Philly.

Thanks for the feedback.

Pat will be on Broad Street, and Kansas will be in Glenside (a Philly suburb) the same night! I can't decide! Auuggghh! If I don't make up my mind soon, I'll miss them both! ?‍♀️

@DianeB I have seen Kansas a couple of times, once with the original arena line-up and once with the new in a smaller club. Kansas has singing, and well known songs. Pat Metheny is a different experience. Pat Metheny is guitar focused with no vocals, and a small backup band. Kansas is rock; Pat is more jazz. They are both worth seeing so you better make a choice.

Kansas wins this one. I've seen Pat four times, but Kansas only on the documentary "Miracles Out of Nowhere" (twice). I snagged the last seat in the front half of the house. ? Pat won't miss me. He'll probably sell out the Mirriam Theater, as he's very popular in this area. Thanks for nudging me, guys.

@Randy120  Pat led off his Side Eye tour here in Wilmington August 27 at our Baby Grand. (!) It's a smallish house, seating 300. I scored center seats in the sixth row (!!) with my guitar tutor, and we were both just over the moon. Afterwards, on the way to my car, we met the keyboardist James Francies and drummer Marcus Gilmore. (!!!) We might have just missed meeting Pat, as the trio was staying overnight in town for a second show -- I presume, at the adjacent hotel. Pat was probably still backstage with the crew. Wah! So close! 🤦‍♀️
