In this Chet Ackins song is there a wha wha pedal at work? I know he used one, I am assuming in the 1950s they might have sounded different.

Definitely NOT a Wah Wah. One person mentions in the notes on that video that it is a Tremolo effect built into the amp.   A lot of older amplifiers have that built into it. A lot of newer amps do NOT.

Wah was first built in 1966, so any recording or video older is probably a combination of tremo circuit in thd amp, and vibrato technique in his hands
