It's been 6 years since my last purchase which was a Martin HD28E Retro.  Today FedEx brought this: Maton EBG 808 TE Tommy Emmanuel Signature. 🙂

Comparing in the simplest of terms:

Martin = Booming cannon

Maton = Nightengale

@Shenandoah beautiful guitar!  Enjoy.  Let's hear a recording with it! 😎

Using your comparison terms the "booming cannon" may be partly due to the dreadnought size of the Martin?  I know nothing of sizes of Maton.  Using Martin terms, the only sizes I understand, would an 808 be comparable to a dreadnought or 000 or which?

Thanks for sharing with us your NGD!

The Martin is a dreadnought, the Maton body size is 808:

  • Body Depth: 4 59/64"
  • Lower Bout Width: 14 13/32"
  • Upper Bout Width: 11 7/32"
