Sorry!  Anyone else now feel old?!?!😡

There are quite a few albums on here that were hugely important to me.  Allman Brothers- Idlewild South, Beatles- Let it Be, Clapton- Self Titled, Van Morrison - Moon Dance, The Who - Live at Leeds.  But my all time favorite album from that year, and close to favorite of all time, and most of you know what I'm going to say.   Drum Roll Please.  Santana - Abraxas!!!

Who else!?!?!?!?!?  What albums on here were influential in your musical upbringing.  For you youngsters on here😉, have any of you gone back to any of these after developing some influences?

Simon & Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water. My acoustic playing is largely based on learning to fingerpick like Paul Simon from my youth club leader a few years after this.

The whole list is before I had started delivering newspapers and could afford to buy records. My first was a single, in 1972, Don McLean's Vincent.

Simon & Garfunkel's Greatest Hits was not my first LP but one of the first.

After the Gold Rush, Abraxas, Plastic Ono Band , Bridge Over Troubled Water ( all of Simon and Garfunkels works) were all impactful for me. Even more so, Sweet Baby James (James Taylor), as I was composing my own music. The singer-songwriter concept stimulated the poet-writer side of my consciousness and the 60-70's provided ample topical fuel for creativity.

@matonanjin  So that's where a lot of my earnings were spent that year (or the following year, as I played catch-up)!  Beer, cigarettes, food, and girls were waiting in the wings fifty years ago; so music ruled my expenses and my tastes ran as eclectic as one can imagine.  I still have almost all of those on vinyl in my LP archives.

Looking back, it just reminds me of how wonderful the musical experience was in our "younger" days.  One of my favorite movie scenes, is the panoramic vista in Easy Rider as "The Weight" is filling the room!

Okay, time to get back to the pandemic at hand...😓
