Hello Greg and whoever else would like to add to this thread.  I have a Seagull S6+ LH, made in 2004, bought it used on eBay for $200. Love everything about it except the tuning machines; they are small and don't seem too stay in tune and I just don't like them. Was thinking about upgrading to a larger knobbed Gotoh  gold machine, might take the attention off my awful playing.  Is the size of peg hole 10mm? I don't want to have to ream the holes out, I want to upgrade with something that fits the headstock as is. Make sense?

I would check Allparts.com. They have a pretty good selection of easy to swap tuners. Their product support is friendly and knowledgeable as well. Most tuner manufactures have the size that you speak of.

Another option,  goto StewMac, (www.stewmac.com) and they likely have installation instructions for the tuners they carry.  My tuners used a piloted bit (I don't remember the size) that created a stepped hole, which I bought from StewMac.
