hello everybody, i have this question,

I am almost ready to go to session 5 but  i have never strummed with a plectrum because i can only practice at night or early in the morning when my little daughter is sleeping.

So it is almost impossible to practice strumming patterns and learn to hit the bass note accurate on my acoustic guitar because it is way to loud :)

Did anyone have had this problem and what was your solution???

I am thinking about buying an electric guitar and learn to strum unplugged because that doesn't make that noise.

If anyone have other tips to share i would like to hear them.

Thanks anyway, greetings from Belgium

For similar reasons, I play electric with headphones and amp simulator between 8 PM and 9 AM.

So I play my accoustic almost exclusively during daytime in the weekend.

Wim.

We had this very conversation not too long ago.

I don't have that set-up but use headphones with my Boss eBand JS-10 or with my POD HD500X when I don't want to disturb Mrs. Matonanjin.

Limatje

I have seen many guitar teachers, including Justin Sandicore on his new video, all say that your first learning guitar should be electric. One of the benefits is less noise I guess. They are easier on your fingers too.

At night noodle on an electric and don't plug it in. Believe me you can hear enough. I do it all the time watching tv.

Cheers

Here is my solution (see photo below). I plug my headphones and guitar (primarily an electric in the evening) into a Boss DB-90 metronome (probably the best music-related piece of equipment I have ever purchased). It is mounted to my music stand using a drum kit cymbal bracket.

I am a big fan of the VOX AC30 with headphones. It's cheap and gets the job done.
