I have a couple of hypothetical question! 1. Can Steve teach a song on his live lessons as long as he keeps the lesson plan to less than 10 percent of the song? 2. What does it cost a music teacher to use copyrighted material for educational purposes on line or in a classroom?

Steve had a major problem in trying to get the "rights" to songs in the guitar Hits course.

How does Justin Sandcore and others do it without a lawsuit,  I don't know

@Triple-o  This article should answer your questions. The fees that licensing companies and publishers charge will vary, depending on the intended use.

Thanks, I just bought another one of those fake books and  this time I read the copyright information. It got me thinking about Cover Bands, juke boxes, karaoke, street performers, school sponsored bands and teachers, especially those on the internet.

In the UK we have music licenses that companies have to pay for if they want to play copyrighted music to the public. I am guessing that cover bands have to have one of those in the UK.

I wonder a lot about copyright from the point of view of posting cover songs on youtube. I always do mine as unlisted because I do not think that you can legally do that without permission.🤔
