@Texaspackerfan I am pleased that you have treated yourself to a new Fender Tele. You deserve a treat after the fire and all that it entailed.

I can't see the picture on my iPad it just says "image preview " in a big white square.

I hope you will do a video of you playing it, would love to hear it too!

Congratulations and enjoy!😎🎉🎸

EDIT..... My computer has finally shown me your pictures. WOW TURQUIOSE! My favourite colour! Turquoise metallic if I am not mistaken, great choice!

@Texaspackerfan Congrats on the new Tele Danny! Retro surf green is cool... Although chickin'pickin' isnt really my cupa tea, I've been curious about Tele's for a while, but never played one. Even with the single coil pickups, I've heard they are quite versatile.  Enjoy.

Danny, congrats on the new Tele. Although I should not be looking at this thread.  It's giving me GAS.  I've got all the food groups: the Strat, the humbuckers, the semi-hollowbody 335'ish, the hollowbody, etc.  Everything except the tele.  You're making me think, unfortunately!  😉

I'll bet she does play like a dream.  Enjoy it a long time!

Congrats on the new Axe!

I have a Classic Vibe Tele and really enjoy playing it and I've thought about trading up to to an American but I'm pretty committed to my relationship with my Les Paul's and the CV plays and sounds great so I'll probably never pull the trigger.

Danny, this is somewhat a more general message about the Tele.  So maybe I should have started a new thread in the gear forum.  But since you're our new Tele owner, and this thread is about that, I added to here.

Musicians Hall of Fame founder and CEO, Joe Chambers, interviewed Steve Cropper and he discussed "Why I use a Telecaster".  This is the 5 minute cropped (no pun intended) version.  There is also the full 30 minute version for those that have the interest and the time.

I don't remember who I heard if from but I often repeat that "the player determines the genre, the guitar is a tool".  Pretty much every (Fill in the blank)genre guitar has been used by someone for every other genre of music.  Rock Flying V's for blues, Country Tele's for heavy metal, Jazz Box Hollowbodies for Rockabilly etc, etc etc.

If you enjoy playing it and it sounds good to you for what you are playing - its good.

So true. Bill Frisell (jazz), mostly Teles. John 6 (metal), only Teles. That covers a lot of musical ground. Some guitars with spit coils HB's can generate Strat/Tele-like tones, Hollowbodies can be rock machines etc.I feel the Tele is a very versatile guitar form that lends itself to single coils, P90's and HB's....but the single coils alone can generate a variety of tonal opportunities for different genres.
