Hello. Does anyone know what kind of guitar Peter Frampton played in Baby, I Love Your Way?    I love the beautiful sound and have no idea what it is.  I'd appreciate any info.  Thanks.

Here are some clues. And here. I defer to our guitar detectives to do the rest.

It was a 1954 Les Paul Custom.  Interesting because it had 3, rather than the usual 2 humbuckers.

But do you know the entire story about the guitar? Frampton was on tour in 1970.  The guitar was on a cargo plane that crashed and Frampton  assumed the guitar was destroyed.  It was returned to him decades later.

NPR story about the guitar.

Guitar World Story.

Hi Kimmy, I didn't realize you asked the same question.   I should have specified his acoustic version with that beautiful smooth tone.  I want to say it's a Maton but can't be sure.  Anyone else?  I'd love to have one for open mike night or some coffee house gigs.

I didn't realize that about his Les Paul, that's a good story and great articles.  Thanks for sharing.
