Transposing melody and chords

I was amazed how easy this process is to do. It sounded really difficult. I started with an easy song  from Steve‘s guitar course “Greensleeves” in Am and transposed to Dm. I wanted to see how the “emotions” of the song changed. Not much to my ears. I think Am Dm or Em would all sound good. 
 

When I first looked at Steve’s version I initially thought it was in the A melodic minor scale.But I soon came to the conclusion that two sharps he used were probably taken just from the D7 and E7 chords in  his harmony.

It wouldn’t have mattered but it did force me to learn about minor scales and why there are 3. Again I thought is was going to be some mind-boggling theory but  it turned out to be a simple explanation about leading tones.

The melodic scale only has the  sharps descending  and reverts to the natural minor when ascending. I see no reason to revert to the  natural  when ascending and I read where that’s really more of  a suggestion.
