It's closing in on 20 years since I bought a guitar and the DVD course Learn and Master Guitar. I was just 28 years old starting out. Having no talent what so ever, it felt impossible to play chords, let alone switch between D and C major while strumming.

I don't remember when I finished the course, but I know it took a couple of years. After that I sailed aimlessly for years until I just stopped playing. The pause would take five years out of my guitar journey.

Last year I spontaneously answered a notice for a rhythm guitarist in a brass ensemble. And just like that I'm back in the game more active than ever. Six months later I join a cover rock band and is now playing jams and even have a small gig looming in June.

It's funny how things turn out. 😄

“Standard “ story of most LMG students

family and jobs get in the way

once you get some “breathing room “ you pick it up again

the LMG. As you know is great, may even use it as a refresher

Steve does live lessons “most “ Tuesday check the Live Lessons link at the top. Years of great lessons there

My daughter had the nerve to go and have twins April 26th 😅 so I will be watching them and our 2 year-old grandson a lot instead of digging in on Steve's fingerstyle course, which I'd hoped to finish by July.  It's tough but good (Doug, did you ever finish?) Guess I'll be strumming GCD songs by Raffi for awhile.

And yes, the Tuesday night lessons and online chat are great!

That is a dream job without the fame, because it is a supporting role. You get the opportunity to really get your timing spot on and learn to play with others.

not to 'steal' the thread.. but sadly no.. I'm one of those "bad" LMG students that never finished. In LMG hit around session 15 (skimmed most of the theory parts) got tied up with 600 church masses over 5yrs.. then Fingerstyle completed Session 3 for the Fall Retreat . . Went back to concentrate on blue rock songs so I can get into a local jam night. . still working on that

At my age, I'm starting to do what works best for me AND what I enjoy most.  Got alot out of what I have completed.
