This is a relatively new publication which I highly recommend, especially, for an adult music learner. Don’t let the slogan under the title be a turnoff! It’s probably your fixed mindset, misconceptions about talent and age, self-doubt, or wishful thinking raising the red flag. I’ve recently begun working with the book and I can honestly say – I wish I had been given the book on day one of my musical journey. It is truly the missing manual on learning music intuitively and holistically.

It’s not a dry textbook or a method book on how to play an instrument. This approach should be integrated into music education as the standard component. We all have the capacity to be musicians. The abilities and skills of musicianship are all learnable. Regardless of whether you encounter obstacles on your musical journey or not, the book may turn out to be much more than you expected.

Simply look up “Musicality” by Christopher Sutton on Amazon. By the way, this is not a paid advertisement. I don’t even know why I need to include this statement, but I’ve got a feeling I should. People are suspicious these days and so am I. There are reasons for this sad state of affairs which I won’t get into. So get the book and have fun with it!

No replies? No-one considers himself or herself a musician? Not even a potential candidate for one? I don’t think so. Nonetheless, this is quite revealing. I’ve been checking this forum recently and the activity is remarkably low. It appears that some members of the old gang are occasionally here, but the new members participation is minimal. It feels more like an archive than a discussion board these days. There’s nothing to revisit or explore?

I guess the emoticons and emojis save us time, but they have made us lazy as well. Pretty soon we’ll forget how to express ourselves altogether. That’s only part of the sad state of affairs. I thought musicality would be a hot topic for like-minded people, eager to exchange ideas, etc., but I guess I might be wrong.

Here’s a suggestion for the forum administration. Make new membership a two-step process: initial and full. In the initial step sign up a member and allow for (let’s say) three moderated posts to gain full membership status without further moderation. This will jump-start the new member’s activity and create encouragement for further participation. If someone wants to stay on the sidelines, why bother signing up in the first place?

Since the demise of Learn and Master Guitar series and Legacy Learning Systems as a corporate entity. The forum here has been on major decline since like 2012. There’s no real cohesive force driving people here.
YES there needs to be a new version of LMG to train the next set.

Steve is the chief, cook and bottle washer  and hair designer; he does what he can

his Live Lessons on Tuesday night are the main draw now

with new guitar lessons weekly

he also runs a great Fall Fingerstyle Retreat (check the store link at the top of the pages)

Btw there are new measures for signing up to the forum . It was implemented in the spring as there was a wave of spambots hitting here.

we’d all love to see the forum back to what it was.
but for now the chat in the Live Lessons Tuesday are where most people are

PS I checked Amazon price for the book , hard cover $79cdn yikes

@Eracer_Team-DougH You can buy the book direct and get the 850-page hardcover plus instant digital edition for just $49.95 or choose digital-only for $29.95 at this LINKAs for people hanging in the chat of Live Lessons, that’s all nice and dandy, but it can be a distraction. I rarely watch the stream these days, but if I did I’d rather focus on the lesson. I know one can do all the focusing on the recorded version, but still … The real chat and interaction in the form of posts would be better on the discussion board where there’s a lot of time for individual input rather than trying to squeeze something in during scrolling chat feed. That’s just my take on it.

Hi guys. Old member here

I used to be very very active on the old forum but it honestly doesn’t have to do with the place where we chat but rather time. When I first started L&M guitar it was 2011 and I had just become unemployed and I had more time and was quite active. I even was active right up till about 2015 when my mom died and then in 2019 when my dad died. Plus in between my part time teaching job increased to and extra 4 days from just the 2 nights. Anyway that followed with a series of hand Problems and ironically I had surgery to repair two of them and then hurt my knee and was in PT for 5 months only to finish PT in late Dec and get diagnosed with breast cancer. So I just had a mastectomy 2 weeks ago.  I was on line and noticed the musicality advert which before Christmas I was tempted to purchase but I figured I was still too busy and then with the diagnosis I had no head for anything.
so now I’m starting the long process of healing and reconstruction. And saw the advert again. I googled and this query came up.  So here I am saying hello and thanks for the input on the book. I won’t be able to play guitar for a bit but I can read once the pain starts to subside !

hope to see a little bit more of you all here

Although I known the other issue is that anything we type here is public. That’s how I saw your query in the first place.

take care

 Maria

Maria, how lovely to see you here again; I toostarted L&MG in 2011. I am so sorry to read about how many challenges life has thrown at you in the last few years. May your experiences make you a stronger and more capable person than you were before and may your music give you peace and enjoyment without limitations.
