Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hello everyone,

This months theme comes from mark_h he wrote "Its between 37C and 42C everyday here. 🥵 It’s always a furnace up in the hills and only 30c on the coast. all I can think of is wonderful cool rain! So I suggest that for this months challenge we cover a song with the word ”Rain”, in the title or lyrics."

This challenge ends on the last day of August.  Give us something to listen to. 🌧 ️

1) Wim VD1 playing "Black Hole Sun"

2) Nutty 1 playing "Have you ever seen the rain"

"Black hole sun won't you come and wash away the rain?"

In my search for songs about rain, I came across Singing in the rain, Purple rain, It's raining men, A hard rain's gonna fall, Have you ever seen the rain,... and ended up with this one from Soundgarden.

After some weeks on acoustic, it was fun to go back to electric and play around with effects.

Thanks for listening.

Wim

Soundgarden is one of the famous grungebands from Seattle, together with Nirvana and Pearl Jam. They got a Grammy for Black Hole Sun in 1995. There is a great acoustic version by their singer Chris Cornell as well.

Thanks, Ian.

Yes, it was fun experimenting with some dissonant slide guitar for the intro and the flanger and distortion effects for the other parts.

Chris Cornell's unplugged version sounds much more harmonic than Soundgarden's original. I want to record an unplugged rendition as well.
