@IanD Well sung and nicely played with cool acoustic vibe and subtle strumming dynamics. ??

@IanD, very nice recording. Do you play for an audience sometimes?

Here's my contribution for this month. The song is 'Angel' by Sarah McLachlan. I recorded a single, live take direct to mp3 via a Zoom H2n recorder that was standing on the desk in front of me. I then uploaded it into Logic Pro and tweaked the gain and EQ and added bit of reverb and compression. (p.s. when I say 'single, live take' it was by no means the first :-) )

Ian

Beautifully done Ian.

I am trying to. I've been having singing lessons, the singing school puts on a show twice per year to a friendly audience of 100 to 200 friends and family. I've done one song at four of those now. I find it terrifying, yet exhilarating - I suffer really badly with nerves. I'm now going to a little local folk club approx every 2 weeks to try to build my confidence and get more experience. There are only about 12-15 people there and it's really friendly and informal with people playing at all levels. You get to do 2 songs each time, just sitting in a circle, no PA or anything. No matter how comfortable I am with the song, the nerves begin the instant it's my turn. They cause my hand and leg to shake, heart races, forget the lyrics, fingers don't go where I want them to. It's weird. I hope that with time, it'll all get easier.

I am still battling with my osteoarthritis and trigger finger. They are still slowing me down but I am never going to give up!

Here is a 1 take version of "The house of the rising Sun" exactly as I played it in all its slowness. :D

@Nutty1 Nicely done! ?  Word of caution though. It’s not about giving up. It’s about being able to play and enjoy yourself. Do not neglect your trigger finger. I had to deal with tendonitis and a trigger finger for six months. I went for physiotherapy. I was told that if I continue to play guitar I may never get rid of it. I stopped and I’m glad I followed the advice because I got rid of the trigger finger. My fingers still get somewhat stiff in the morning, but I continue to do prescribed exercises and warm up before practice and play. Wish you speedy recovery!

Great job Mandy! It may be slightly slow but it’s all there. ? I hope your hands are better soon, that sounds  so frustrating .

Thank you Gerald for your kind comment on my playing. Thank you also for sharing your excellent advice on how to get rid of trigger finger. I am going to do it! I will stop playing musical instruments and I will rest my fingers more. I will also make sure that when I do get back into playing that I warm up properly. Thank you! ?

Thank you UncleHammy, Ian and Mark for your kindness.

Yes the trigger finger and osteoarthritis are frustrating, it has been 15 minutes following my decision to stop playing (for a while) and I am already suffering from withdrawal symptoms ?.

Thank you also to @Tom The Piddler for the like, it is good to see you on this forum with us Tom!
