I have started the course and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, my picking arm pains a lot while playing. I have tried slowing down and all but not able to understand if I’m relaxing my hand or not. Not able to progress. Please help.

Thanks

Try a lighter touch. You need a firm grip on the pick, but you don't need to squeeze it. Make sure you have your wrist straight. You should not have your wrist bent, it should be in its natural position.

It's amazing how have with grip up, when we make a mistake and gets anxious.

Might have to adjust your seating and position of the guitar, turn the neck up a bit.

I use a strap, sitting or standing

also over the years I have found using strengthening balls or squeeze items to strengthen your right and left hand helps. Those are muscles you are not used to using and fatigue easily . It will come in time.. most have been through this at some point and time.
