My granddaughter , on her new Ukelele that was a present from us  this Christmas, and I have done a little time together. She has written her 1st song ( age 13) that I will be recording and we will be collaborating on Free Falling soon, Tom Petty. Three children, 4 grandkids and I finally have one that plays music...and sings beautifully.  Fun stuff.

Last year, my daughter and me played a folk song at a school concert.

Wim, that had to be a wonderful experience.

@matonanjin

Ron,

Both rehearsing and performing with her was a wonderful thing. She got the task from her violin teacher to put together a small performance with friends or family. Back then I was 1 year into the L&M course and she was in her 5th year of learning to play violin. So her musical backgroung was already much stronger than mine.

We picked a traditional Scottisch folk song with only 2 chords and a nice violin melody line, so I could do the accompaniment and she could do the melody. It was my first time playing for an audience.

Great experience indeed.

Wim

Love it.  Can't believe I just stumbled upon this great thread.

I'll try and post a pic of the group I'm playing with tomorrow at church.

Here's a clip from the choir special a few weeks ago on a Sunday I was playing...

It's an old post, but that's ok, I'm an old guy. And this is an old video from a few years ago but I ran this allman bros tribute band and we gigged a couple times a month for a few years. Fun stuff.  I'm playing the SG.  (Also, I solo at about 3:07 'cuz it's all about me! Just kidding. )

@BluzCruz Thanks for resurrecting this old post.  This sort of post is just my cup of tea.  To all of you who posted Videos of your bands, I am super impressed!  To all who posted photo’s especially the ‘blasts from the pasts’ Thank you all!  And @Wim thank you for sharing the photo of you and your daughter, loved it!!  And lastly, Steve, the choir was amazing and the song was very uplifting, I could see you bopping away at the back, thanks for sharing.  Admin I think this thread should be Pinned!

So, to join in the fun I have posted a video of my son playing classical guitar at the Junior School Concert. A little back story.  My son has been having half an hour a week classical guitar lessons at his school since year 5 (he is now year 8).  When he was in year 6, we were given only 3 days’ notice that the classical guitar ensemble was required to perform at the Junior School concert at the local High School.  Because of the short notice my son was the only one in his year to show up, so his teacher decided that he should do a solo!  Yikes!  My son had only performed as an ensemble once and that was only in a school assembly.  Boy did I have a proud mummy moment that evening, he took it all in his stride and performed two pieces to an audience of over 300!!!  The video is quite amusing as my son has a couple of Mr Bean moments coming on and going off stage.

Mrs. Fretless is a piano teacher. I was invited to play at the teachers' concert and so teamed up with my wife and a colleague, another piano teacher, that loves jazz and has some drums. Here we are, then, in an impromptu jazz band just for the evening, although all three of us said we should do this more often.
