Question about Nut/Saddle Material.  On another site they talked about real bone nut and saddles vs what came on their guitar.  What are everyone’s thoughts and experiences.  I would also like to have Greg Voros weigh in on the subject.   By the way I have a Martin GPC15ME which has Bone Nut/Compensated White Tusq Saddle.

Thanks

papamark

Hi Mark. I have Bone saddles and Tusq saddles. Both work great. But the bone saddles are on the bright Side as the tusq saddles are a little Darker tone . I like the tusq saddles better for the deeper richer tone . But i dont change them unless they are plastic. If the guitar is to dark then use bone to brighten it up , If bright use tusq to deepen the tone . That's all i have.

Thank you.  I also have a Taylor and it is much brighter.  The Martin is on the darker side.  That is what drew me to it.

Have a great day.

Mark

I have two Blueridge Guitars one with a bone nut one with a tusq nut. Two Martin Guitars one with a Bone Nut other with a tusq nut . The best of both worlds. I have saddles to change them a round if needed.
