So you found some new guitar music you really enjoy?  Share it with us here.  And when I say "new" I don't mean newly released.  I mean newly discovered.  New to you!  Found a deep cut from a 1972 Jeff Beck album that you hadn't heard before and you really like it?  Share it here.  If it's new to you it very likely will be new to a lot of us.  Just please keep it something we most likely haven't heard.  No chart toppers.

There will be few restrictions here, beyond the usual ones:  Keep it family friendly.  Don't try and sneak in something political.  And, of course, it must be guitar centric.

It matters not what genre it is,  blues, country, jazz?  And it doesn't matter what type of guitar, electric or acoustic?  And it can be a new artist we should be on the watch for.  Or it can be, like my example above, a cut that we most likely haven't heard from an artist we all know.

Just share here something you think we would enjoy.  Maybe include a few lines about how you discovered it and/or what you find interesting/enjoyable about it.

My thread so I guess I should start.  I've been a Robin Trower fan since Procol Harum and Too Rolling Stoned.  I have always felt that after James Dewar, who was bassist and vocalist in Trower's power trio, passed away the band just wasn't the same.

Robin Trower just released his newest album, Coming Closer To The Day.  On the new album Trower performs all the instruments except drums.  He also does the vocals and it is passable.  This is "I Want To Take You With Me".  It has some fairly some classic Robin Trower Strat work.

I hope you enjoy it.

@Old Guy, I am going to have to check him out.   I had never heard of him but a couple guys on another forum were raving about him.  And Truefire just brought him onboard just releasing a new course, Blues Speak.  They just released it within the last couple weeks.  Of course, just because he is a great player doesn't mean he can teach.  But I will be interested in looking at it.  And definitely I'm going to listen to him.

Thanks for the recommendation.

In all honesty... I haven't listened to "new" music in quite some time.

I hat commercial radio and how they EQ their sound.

Plus the censorship of songs recorded long ago are now considered offensive and are edited,  yet current rap music has some of the most offensive lyrics and subject is played.

I was "talked into" a free spotify account,  and my car has some sort of ability to talk to a spotify account (probably via my phone).

Still haven't used it (spotify that is)

Last my music is all on mp3's on USB sticks in my car..

With this said...

I just started to listen to Guitar Shorty and Magic Slim that I had transferred there some time ago.

Spotify is a great place to discover new music and hear familiar artists. The account is free if you dont mind a commercial  every 1/2 hour or small monthly fee. Its been great for me discovering the jazz guitar world of artists like Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass, Larry Carlton et al.

"lied" sounds a bit harsh... mistaken maybe... 😉  anyway... you can download the Spotify App on your cell phone and listen free (with commercials) there as I do often.

@matonanjin

I tried a David Grier album "Freewheeling" after an article that appeared in Acoustic Magazine...fun to listen while relaxing on the patio.

New Flying Colors record coming! I'm a HUGE fan. The band is an amazing blend of many stylists and includes Steve Morse on guitar, Dave LaRue on Bass, and Mike Portnoy on drums. Here's a song from their upcoming 3rd studio record, and if you like what you hear, you MUST get their self titled debut.

Trey Hensley and Rob Ickes can put on a great 2-person show.  They have a new album coming out October 4 with blues in mind (or at least their version).  Heard them perform in a Frankfort, IL this past week at Down Home Guitars and they rocked the place.  The beautiful guitars on display weren't half bad either!

I have heard Trey's electric and this acoustic version of the great SRV tune.  Enjoy.

Recently a friend told me about this. Jeff Beck wasn't new to me, but this show certainly was. The dvd also has good interviews with Jeff Beck and his band members. I usually don't spend too much time on instrumentals, but wow. I had no trouble listening to the entire show, with some great singers adding "spice" as Jeff calls it.

Beck is like no other. The sounds he can evoke from his instrument are uniquely brilliant.

Bassist Tal Wikenfield is also sensational here.

@pkotof and @NeilES335, thanks for resuscitating this thread. I don't have the DVD so I didn't get to see the interviews.  but I watched it, probably on YouTube, and really enjoyed it.  And yeah, Neil, Tal was sensational.

Showtime has a documentary about him,  "Jeff Beck: Still on the Run".  It is really interesting. Lots of interviews with Tal, and his other bass player, (I can't remember her name), and Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, David Gilmour, Rod Stewart, Ron Wood, Slash, and Joe Perry.  The doc also spends time about his passion for American Hot Rods.  If you're a Beck fan it is an hour and a half really well spent.

Mandy, thank you.  I don't know anything about Vicki other than I have seen her name as an artist over at Truefire.  She has some number of acoustic courses there.  I, from time to time, think about trying some open tunings and she has a course or two on that.  If I ever proceed with trying that I'm going to seriously look at her course.

@Nutty 1 and @matonanjin   I’ve worked on several of her True Fire courses related to rhythm.  Can’t say I’ve been unhappy.  🤠

I see to listen to a Robert Cray back in the 80s. Since I started the blues course, I’ve rediscovered him and can get enough.  “Strong Persuader” is a really special album

There is an awesome cd of Johnny Copeland, Robert Cray, and Albert Collins together called Showdown.
