GAS strikes again!  I found this one at a guitar auction in Casper, Wyoming.  Here is my "new" 1997 BluesHawk:

BluesHawk.jpg

It has a Varitone circuit in it.  None of my other Gibsons has a Varitone.  It is the chicken-head knob

BluesHawk%20Closeup.jpg

It is smaller than a Les Paul, and my smallest semi-hollowbody.  The guitar really SCREAMS!  It doesn't have standard P-90s - it has "Blues" P-90s.  The difference is that there is a dummy coil in the circuit.  Wait, doesn't that make them humbuckers?

It also has a 25 1/2" scale length and a string-through-body setup.  Strange for Gibson.  Another toy for me! :)

Congrats Ben... Certainly not your 'average' Gibson.  Maybe you could start a subcollection of unusual and/rare Gibson models.  How many now is that? 15, 25...50?🎸😉

Another sweet guitar, Ben.  Congratulations.  I looked at a Blues Hawk at a pawn shop a couple years ago.  Wonderful tone.  I found the varitone circuit and 5 way switching really interesting.    Enjoy it!

Very cool Ben.  My question, in a spur of the moment, which two do you grab for a gig or save from disaster? Do you keep these in a vault to keep them safe and sound?😁

Greg,

That is a tough question about which two.  Hopefully I'll never have to decide!

Here is how they are currently stored:

Well, this is how most of them are stored. :)  I need another rack!
