🎤Does anyone fancy doing the songwriting and/or vocals. 🎼If no one volunteers then you will be stuck with me doing it and you know what that means. 🤣🤦‍♀️

Hello All,

In the absence of a rhythm track from @guitarben and the  fact that guitarben was not able to  set up this months Recording Challenge I am assuming that guitarben is indisposed and we should continue this Collaboration without him. guitarben, I hope you and your family are ok.

As time is moving on I have done a simple rhythm track

@Texaspackerfan this is using the "Brit and Clean" guitar amp simulator in stereo. Do you want left and right rhythm tracks using this recording but with different amp simulations or can you do that in your software with the audio file above? If you want to use the Box.com folder for your mixes then please send me your email address in a private message and I will get Box to give you editor permission.

Thanks Mandy for the rhythm track.  I'll have some free time to work on the bass track this weekend.

Thank you @Texaspackerfan and @Jusca. Sorry about the mistake with the rhythm guitar part, thank you for bringing it to my attention Danny (it was only 3s long, whoops!😬) I have now replaced it. GG4 Rhythm

@Jusca do you want an intermediate mix of the drums and rhythm guitar for your bass part?

I'm not familiar with what an intermediate mix is.  Is it the same as having both the rhythm guitar & drums mixed down into one track?  If so, that would be helpful if it's not too much to ask otherwise I was just going to align the separate drum and rhythm guitar tracks in my daw and record from there.

Hi @Jusca

if you like I can mix how you want to hear the mix. more drums less or more rhythm less but jus make sure I get the direct stem not a mix. if you need help just let me know. I will be out of pocket this weekend because of fathers day and all but I will be available Monday. I kinda want to spend time with my two boys.

Hey Nutty, maybe I can sneak in on this with lyrics and vocals if you are unable to find a volunteer. My approach is often to try and hear a melody line with some phrasing based on syllables rather than words. For me, it is harder to work backwards from words to melody lines, as a created lyric sometimes does not fit the amount of space for phrasing it in a pre-established song structure ...kind of hard to explain. Hence, coupling the lyrics together with a melody line after the song structure is established seems easier to me if the writer and melody maker is one and the same.  I would never argue the point with Elton John and Bernie Taupin though. I will need an invite to the shared files.

Let me know if this helps. And if someone has an idea for a theme?

Greg

Thank you @gotto that would be great! I will put you down for both.

Thank you for your description of your artistic approach. I have always thought that the vocalist should at least be a co-writer. Not all writers want to do the vocals.

Hello Danny @Texaspackerfan did you manage to do the drums and guitar mix. I think it would be good for @Jusca to have it for her bass track as your choice of amp simulation may influence her bass line.

Greg @gotto you should be able to the the Guitargathering folder in your box account as you are still there as an editor.

Jusca I have sent an invite to the box guitargathering folder using an old email address I have for you.

My sincere apologies to you all. I am sorry I really have made a hash up! Thank you to @Texaspackerfan for noticing it.

1) The drum track is too difficult. I used the GarageBand (or was it Logic) drummers and combined sections from 2 different drummers and this may have made the rhythm really tricky. It is not a good track for our Collaboration.

2) I had meant to add the count in on the rhythm track but it looks like my inexperience with driving Logic Pro X (I am attempting to transition from GarageBand) and not checking the track before uploading it has lead to the count in being omitted.

I am very sorry for both above and I will put them right.  I will do another drum track with a count in (using only 1 drummer) and contact @guitarben and apologise to him.

Best wishes

Mandy

@Texaspackerfan Danny I have put 2 rhythm guitar tracks in the GG4 folder on Box.com. In my DAW I panned one a bit to the left and the other a bit to the right. It is up to you if you use them both or not, I would be interested in hearing what you think.

I was out of town last weekend and had a very busy week.  I'm finally getting back on here.  I'll work on the bass tomorrow as I'll have no more free time in the coming weeks.  The new drum track sounds good and easier to follow!

I have a gig on the 4th of July and I will keep an eye on progress here. Nutty, can you let me know when things are set for me to work on a melody and lyrics? I will be busy the next few days and ready to help out by next weekend. Thanks.

Hello Greg, it looks like we have all of the instrument tracks that we need to proceed now. Over to @Texaspackerfan.

Danny can you give us an idea of when you will be able to produce a mix for Greg to use to do the vocals please?
