Finally!

After years I am pleased to announce that I have completed Learn and Master Guitar!  My signature doesn't reflect this yet and I will change it.  I took a lesson with Steve in Nashville last August on session 17.  And then I completed it shortly after that when I got back home.

I then finished the remaining 18-20 over the next months bringing us to now.

What a great few years it has been.  I looked at many different avenues to learn guitar not long after Santa brought me my starter guitar kit.  I looked at some online sources like Justin Guitar and Guitar Tricks.   I, of course, considered one on one lessons with a local instructor.  And I took a couple lessons with a local guy.  But when I distilled it down I decided L&MG was the route for me.  And what a great decision it was.

Certainly, an enjoyable part of the journey has been the friends I have made on the original forum and here after Steve moved us here.  Enjoyable and helpful.  Anytime I was confused or frustrated I knew I could come here and find answers or just encouragement.  It's because of this forum that I met @Dan Brown on the Keeping the Blues Alive cruise.  He and his lovely wife, Diane, have become friends with my wife and me and an important part of our lives.  See you next March, Dan!

I mentioned the lesson with Steve in Nashville.  Some of you may remember I also flew to Chicago to take a lesson with Steve not long after my starting L&MG.  Not only did I get the hugely helpful lesson but I got to then spend some casual time with Steve including lunch and a trip to the Chicago Music Exchange.  Numerous zoom lessons with Steve have unquestionably been significant in my learning.  Most importantly, I have come to consider Steve a friend.

To be completely truthful, and you can also see this in my sig, I haven't finished session 10.  So I suppose you can make an argument I haven't really finished L&MG.  I really struggled with it and consulted with Steve.  He suggested that I move on and that is what I did.   I really should go back and complete it.

"What's next?"  you logically might ask.  Since somewhere in the second half of L&M, session 12 or 13 or so, as so many of us have, I've  supplemented my studies with some outside learning materials.  And I have lots!🤣 Certainly, whatever I study is going to be blues based.  I think the very near future is going to be dedicated to just learning some songs I've wanted to learn.  I'm thinking "Sunshine of Your Love" by Cream is next.

Thank you every one!  It's been nothing but a joy to be a part of @Steve Krenz's Guitar Family these years.

Congratulations Ron.  That is a true act of dedication.

Your mentioning taking lessons directly with Steve is something I plan on speaking with him about when I attend the Fingerstyle Retreat in October.

Diane, thank you.  There is a group among Steve's Guitar Family that has been so encouraging during these years.  And helpful when I had questions.  No one moreso than you and especially with questions about theory.  Thank you again.

@jasn, there is no way I can encourage you more to do so.  Of course, you could take a lesson locally.  Or probably, I'm not sure where you live or how available local teachers are.  But Steve has an uncanny ability to almost immediately evaluate one's skill and determine what the student needs.  I mentioned the lesson with Steve in Chicago.  I met Steve and he said "Play something for me".  I was apprehensive and self conscious and so he took out the L&MG lesson book and said "Play this".  Five minutes later he is working with me and working on exactly what I needed help with!

You've entered into that exclusive group.

I'm nowhere near close to finishing,  too much other material to side track me

Way to go Ron I know you have been working on this for some time.... now on to the Blues Spotlight course and then Steve's Finger Style course. LOL  I just checked on ebay and you can find them cheap there.  You can most likely get through the Blues spotlight course in 6 months, but the Finger Style course took me 2 years more.  (It is the best by far.)  Funny thing though...the first song Steve played in the intro to the L&MG course is the last song he teaches in the Finger Style course, which is "Paulette".   Congratulations, George

George, thank you.  I actually own the Blues Spotlight course.  (the plastic wrap is still on it!)  I've owned it quite a while and need to start.  I've already proven I have trouble with fingerstyle so I'm not sure I will pursue that more!

Randy, Mike and Greg thank you.

And Greg, I just try and give back to the forum all that has been so freely given to me.

Hello, found this thread trying to get info on Steve's Fingerstyle Mastery course. I looked through the site and some links were broken, so I wasn't sure if this was still a viable option. And courses on DVDs are a bit dated. Are they able to be downloaded. Is Steve still active.

Thanks for any help

@dbvirago well you're at the right website now .

Yes all the DVD's that @Steve Krenz did with the old Legacy Learning System many years ago talk about the old Learn and Master support web forum.

Steve supports all his students here on his own Guitar Gathering forum

There is a section for L&M course questions found here at this link

https://www.guitargathering.com/community/index.php?/forum/6-learn-master-course-questions/

The question of DVD vs streaming.

That question has come up often over the years,  Legacy did put up the basic guitar course on stream, but that site folded yrs ago.

Most of us just "rip" Steve's lessons into mp4 video and put on our tablets the courses as needed.

Don't think there is any plans to try streaming.

Steve is doing an amazing finger style retreat next week.

https://gx169.infusionsoft.app/app/storeFront/showProductDetail?productId=336

And usually does live lessons most weeks except when out of town, see live lessons at top of page.

Long short answer,  nope DVDs won't stream soon if ever

I would just add to Doug's great answer that, yes, Steve is definitely still active and stops in here routinely to answer any questions that have been posted.   Of course, it is such short notice as to not be practical, but for future planning Steve's two annual retreats always generate rave reviews:  his Fall FingerStyle Retreat and his June Summer Gathering.  The latter was Acoustic Guitar Magazine's Silver Award  Players Choice Award.

But back to your original question, are you gathering pre-purchase information or have you purchased it and wanting to stream it?  If the latter, many of us on here have "ripped" our DVD's so that we can play them on our tablets.  I know some use  HandBrake to do this.  I used a program called WinX DVD Ripper.  Not only to play on my tablet but I like to slow down videos using a program, Video Surgeon.  I use this a lot for slowing down not just Learn and Master but lots of videos.  I need them slower than most!😉  but I digress!

If the former, then as Doug said, "nope DVDs won't stream soon if ever"  This goes beyond the scope of this thread.  But Legacy Learning owns all Learn and Master courses as I understand it.  they have never offered any encouragement about their courses being offered as a stream despite how often the subject has been brought up.

@dbvirago, Welcome and don't hesitate to ask any other questions you may have.

Thanks for the quick answers. Unfortunately, when I click on purchase, it says out of stock. I will try back another time.

That's weird.  I tried Legacy and it went straight to VM.  Unfortunately, there are no other sources for it.  I will check with Steve in the next day or so.  He may have some insight.

@dbvirago, you can purchase it from Guitar Center.  Darryl, I would feel comfortable buying it online from Guitar Center and the description says it is "in stock".  Normally, when purchasing online from GC, at least with a guitar, the web page will tell you which store has the item.  I can't get that here.  But I guess that doesn't matter.  It states for me, to Omaha, 3 - 5 business days shipping.

Let us know if you get it!

@dbvirago @matonanjin ahh I see what you're saying.

The Legacy Learning site says out of stock.

Drums have been like that for a couple of years,

Bass Guitar was taken off in like its 2nd yr.

I see even on Steve's own store he is only able to sell his blues course,

Only the books for all the courses he wrote are for sale, no videos,.

Can only guess that Legacy owns the video rights, and sadly Legacy is slowly demising.

Looks like Guitar Center , or Ebay will be your only choices

Doubt Legacy will order more copies.

Only thing we can hope for is Legacy's video contract ends soon and Steve can be free to produce his own copies
