I recently changed my saddle. It was tusq and now it’s cow bone. The Guitar sounded better with the tusq saddle. I was assuming the bone saddle would just last longer and nothing more. Next time I change strings the bone will also go.

Although general consensus is bone is better.

There is no consistency in bone density so you may get lucky or may not have great sound

Bone saddles tind to go bright, I like the tusq saddles better. Darker sounding more balanced. they are to tinging is the word.

I think it is great that you have tried a different material and heard which you prefer. I would call that success.

Different material saddles offer different sounds and over all tone. It really has to do with what makes your guitar sound better considering that guitars can be naturally bright, muddy and everything in between. For most its bone, for some its a high end synthetic material and believe it or not, some tend to sound more balanced with a cheapo plastic nut.
