  1. Thanks so much for the kind words. I’m happy that I saw this challenge as it got me to try that guitar again. Hopefully I can work more and more Guitar into my practice routine !! thanks again Maria
  2. Okay in all the years I've been here (Aug 2011) I don't think I've ever done this challenge. So this is NEW for me. I used an Older guitar and I haven't really been playing too much guitar due to arthritis so playing guitar feels new to me. Also I decided to do something a little different and I only used the open D chord for the backing picking part and then only the 5th and 7th fret for the "lead" if you will. I plugged my older Godin 2013 into Logic Pro X and hit record.I used the Godin nylon for 3 tracks! I also used for one track a "new" Baritone Ukulele. I call it Repentance on a D chord because today's Mass was in honor of my mom Angelica who will be gone 3 years on Valentine's Day and my dad had a mass today (and for the next year or so every month) and the homily was about repentance and of course it's all on the D chord... Thanks for the challenge and thanks for listening~~ Maria https://soundcloud.com/mariacalfa-depaul/repentence-on-a-d-chord-guitar
  3. Hi guys, So I found a really cool web site/teaching tool. The teacher is Scott Sharp. He reminds a lot of Steve in how much he LOVES Music and is so generous with his time and gifts! I found his site because of the Tenor guitar I recently bought as well as the Baritone Ukulele I got from my youngest son. His site has different books and freebies for those instruments as well as others and one of the others is 6 string guitar! Most of what he teaches is really music theory and applicable to EVERY instrument. I had a question and he told me to call him. So here me and a stranger from Kansas had a 45 minute conversation about music theory. I told him about Steve and this wonderful course too. I wanted to share some of the "free" stuff as it's really useful info! It's helping me on this wonderful journey! Maria https://www.fretboard-toolbox.com/quick-key-decoder.html
  4. Actually that does help too. I was originally getting myself mixed up because I was working in key of G and when I was trying formulate the em7 chord I was thinking "oh key of G only has one sharp F#. (Not realizing that I shouldn't be just thinking that the key of E major has 4 sharps so that when you make it a E7 or and Em7 you have to flat that 7th (d#). So the lightbulb went on from all of the Repsonses. I realized why The flatted 7th had to be. A "d" natural not D flat! And then raising it for the major 7th makes the crazy sounding em Major 7th but I actually get it now. Thanks
  5. Thank you for reminding me which sessions those are in. I actually used to know all that having gotten all the way to session 17 but as they said “if you don’t use it you lose it!” Time to hit the books and videos again !! thanks Maria
  6. wow!! i always loved Steve's forum but i love it even more now. I always "missed" posts and found it hard to get on sometimes but this is Fantastic. Thank you all so much for helping me out. Gerard, Diane and Cindy. I really appreciate. AND Cindy. I will study the info you told me so absorb it. I really do enjoy music theory and want to brush away some of the cob webs of stuff I've forgotten and really understand the stuff that has me confused. Thanks. I think I was thinking that I had to know what the flats or sharps were in the key of G which was the key of the song with that chord I was talking about. That's where I was thinking that in the key of G there is only one sharp F#. So that I would have to lower the D to Db to make it the 7th chord. Thanks for clearing that up!! Maria
  7. Thanks yes. I waited all day and guess when it comes ? At like 4:45 An hour before I had to leave for work!! So I only got to play it a short time. But I did figure out some chrods! I like it!! I will post pics as soon as I can!! Maria
  8. So I'm finding my way around a tenor guitar. It's tuned cgda Im figuring out some chords and if I have the notes: EGBD. Would that be? an E minor dominant 7th? But what would it be if I made it D#? A minor major 7th? but the key of Em is the same as g major which only has one sharp F# so wouldn't the flatted 7th of Em scale actually be a d flat?? I'm a little confused. Oh boy I think I've forgotten more than I learned being away from the course in a while thanks so mich maria
  9. Thanks guys. Great to be here. And wow Ian yes play on. The doc said “playing through pain is fine cause it’s not like it’s gonna make it worse. It just is what it is. I do have a hand brace that I use which can make the 6 strings hard to play but maybe I can wear it when I play the four. I use it while playing ukulele and it helps. Nice to see you here Cindy too Maria
  10. So I'm slowly working my way back to 6 strings lol. I have bad basal thumb joint arthritis in my left hand and only in the last 6 months or so have been back to the guitar and ukulele. I'm mostly playing ukulele because it's easier on the arthritis. BUT I'm working on the 6 string~ I also got an inexpensive Baritone Ukulele for my birthday from my son's gift card to Amazon. I actually like it a lot because it's easier on my fingers and yet it's the last 4 strings of the guitar. So how cool is that? this is also helping me get back to the guitar Then I found a sweet deal from Kala for a 4 string Tenor guitar. All Solid Spruce top. It's normally like 350-400 but they discontinued it because they can't import Rosewood and the back and sides are Rosewood laminate. SO I got it for $199 It hasn't come yet. It was supposed to come Friday but Thursday we had a snow storm. So it's been sitting on a cold Fed X truck all weekend. I hope it's okay when it finally gets here. I have no idea if I will like it but I figure I'll give it a shot. It's tuned like a mandolin (which I can't play AT all due to the scrunched frets.) It's weird with this arthritis. If the fretboard is too wide I can't play and if it's too skinny I can't play....it's got to be just right lol!! anyway I'll post pictures and let you know how I like it!! SHould be fun! Maria P.s Glad to be here!

Up top right above member map, there is a tab for "Create" - I think it is in there.

We have had some issues with the stickies so don't be surprised if it gets weird, lol!
