  1. @Nancy Lawing just to “hijack” the mandolin thread. i ended up doing ukulele and have a 12 song set that i do. But no tulips for me
  2. I tried a mandolin at the store once. Found fretboard a little too tight at the time but obviously people can play them , I’d have to retry
  3. @Cuong Dang the Rock Hits wasn’t made by Steve, it’s a mix of lessons that were on the Gibson learning site at one time. but the Song Hits is produced by Steve and is a very good companion to the main course (also purchased in Steve’s store link at the top) only caveat is Hit Me With Your Best Shot, Steve had to put the long version in Session 1 due to royalties of the song he doesn’t expect someone in Session 1 to play the full version of the song there
  4. @Cuong Dang @DianeB I saw a post recently from @Steve Krenz on Facebook someone was asking about the LM-G course and they lost some of the disks and wanted to buy more, Steve said to use Udemy as the source now that Legacy is no longer selling the physical course. At one time Legacy had made a deal with Guitar Center in USA to sell the courses.. I was in one (think Buffalo NY) and saw a copy there but that was some time ago. it's possible that some Guitar Center stores still have an old copy on the shelves for sale waiting to sell. if you're in the USA it might be worth the hunt. I just typed in the title in Amazon seeing if there was any for sale there.. couldn't find any. I do see some on sale on EBay.. found a used one for $59.99 usd +15 shipping.. it says no manual.. but the manuals are download anyway (see my signature line for that) I also see some copies on EBay for ridiculous money.. sadly Legacy looks like they've come to the end of the road. we all wish that Steve would redo the series under the Guitar Gathering brand but that doesn't look forth coming any time. hope you find a copy of the 20+5 disk version of the course. it is how many of us have learned to play guitar.
  5. I always wear a strap sitting or standing and I can stand/sit at will I’ve done the office chair thing and yes you have to sit forward a bit for the arms i switched to a drummer throne long ago if a drummer can thrash around on drums with both legs pumping up/down then I can sit on one and play ps. I practice at work (in spare office) and only office chairs, I also practice in the front passenger seat of my car when it’s cold or raining out. you want cramped,
  6. Good response Dianne. are you planning on signing at the same time? I’d also add unless you’re in a band type jam where an electric would fit in better with drums, bass, keyboards; you’d be best to stick to acoustic. Every guitar “guy/gal/she/he/they” play at a open place 98% play acoustic as it fills the void better, (like I’m the one to talk, where I primarily only use my acoustic playing in church as we have strict rules of not standing out but supporting) I typically gravitate to my electric’s as I try to add a simple solo into a “strum n sing “ song. as Dianne said people generally know the “hook” riff. check out the Live Lessons link on the above menu of this website. look for Steve’s lessons on Brown Eyed Girl. it’s got a great “hook” intro of 3rds diad that everyone goes yeah I know that song. You just need that intro rest came be strum n sing open chords. another really easy intro is on Clapton Wonderful Tonight, it’s a little riff at the 12th fret (don’t need to add the bends) if you can reach the 12th … your acoustic have a cut away? Then the rest of the song can be done in G, D, C open chords you won’t need to do the 3rds walk up if you have the little intro lick that you can use at the end of the song too
  7. work from home 100%, I'm jealous.. I'm still hardware IT,, never locked down.. never at home I still haven't found a good jam group.. only a couple of bars that have bands and people can drop in but without rehearsals it's a nightmare trying to be the lead, and they are on their own tangent. hope you can jam as that's part of the sharing of music.
  8. That’s why I can’t go into stores anymore, $10,000+ guitars are too appealing even though I know they’d make me a better player 😂
  9. @camper star spoken lyrics never hurt Bob Dylan you have a broad selection of gear, which should give you choices to work with might be tough for you to watch/chat in Steve’s Tuesday night Live Lessons but not impossible as we have seen some from Australia online, but Steve’s live lessons are always available on rewind
  10. That their “Final” offer 🫣😂
  11. Every year since Mike and Adele first proposed the the gathering (2007/2008??) , I wish I was there. this year is no different amazing job Steve / Paulette, guest instructors (and all the helpers) put on every year,
  12. So glad you’re a “re-offender “ at the Gathering; wish I was (wife won’t clear that expenditure) Wow ‘only’ 34 , down from years past. thanks Steve for his continued support
  13. Wow, my first thought was , security?? single roll up door in what looks to be desolated area and millions of dollars in equipment and inventory, yikes, interesting going with the “McPherson “ off set sound hole looks like they’ll be “higher end” guitars beyond my playing skill and my wife’s budget, I’ll certainly check out Gruhn’s website in a couple of weeks and dream a bit
  14. Fingerstyle is very hard on the fretting hand I find as one has to hold the chords for a longer time than strumming i never learned Cannon in D anything more than just enough to make it recognizable. it’s not as hard as I thought, you’ll probably enjoy “Taco Bell” 😂😂
  15. I’m definitely not the best guitarist on this forum. many of my strum n sing songs may use “simple “ open chords most of the time, my solos are very simple, and my hearing makes vocals a struggle I listened to Bill Withers and Buddy Guy’s version on this song Buddy does a killer duet and lead guitar I present my version
  16. Yup if you look at the Live Lessons link at the top of this website you’ll find Steve did and interview with Greg and the coffee
  17. Recommend for those buying used Les Paul cause of the chances of headstock repairs
  18. @aldo.ant Steve does Live Lessons a lot of Tuesday's. (look at the Live Lessons Link above; you'll even find lessons dating back years) there is a special Thursday night interview/playing night with Christie Lenee as a guest this week also Steve has a few 'mini' lessons videos for sale in his store link above as well.
