You're usually only a half step away from the "right" note.. so just slide into it and make it sound cool...:-)

Each one hand built in New York City;
JOHN MONTELEONE
There are very few names that consistently top the list of archtop luthiers and John Monteleone is among them. His instruments are breathtaking and awe-inspiring. John was born in Manhattan in 1947 to a family of craftsmen that traces their roots to Palermo. Monteleone’s father was a skilled artist and sculptor. John also learned woodworking from his father as well as the ability to understand a variety of materials and designs.
As did so many of his present-day peers John’s introduction to lutherie was through the repair and restoration of vintage high quality archtops and his early instruments reflected those experiences. Although influenced by the great luthiers of the day, he responded to the need for a more advanced approach to designing the sound, look and feel of his archtops. His designs are at the pinnacle of archtop lutherie. John has introduced many innovations, both acoustic and aesthetic. His work continues to evolve, expanding the boundaries of archtop instrument making.
His four seasons archtops instruments were showcased along with those of John D’Angelico and James D’Aquisto as part of the “Legendary Craftsmen from Italy to New York” exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Recently, the museum purchased the collection from John.

8 track!?! We didn't even have 8 tracks yet when I became a fan. I remember re-positioning the needle over and over again to the beginning of " Toussaint L'Overture". It was the last cut on Santana III. How many thousands of times did I play that?
And you drove a " Chebby Noba " too right? ?? Santana III and IV are regulars on our pvr..."Evil Ways " wifes fav...

You do realize I hope, @NeilES335, that I am upset you don't have a Santana image posted yet!

I love the colour of Larry's 335... but like you say... very pricey model. (how much is guitar vs. the cache' of Larry's name? ) The inspiration for one of Larry's most popular songs; Room 335.
I've probably said but I love the looks of your D'Angelico but I've just never seen in person. (probably a good thing cause then there might be another NGD)

Thanks Gerard; Wow a whole concert....One of the smoooothest jazz groups of all time... Listening to Larry Carlton and Fourplay (not to forget George Benson) on FM radio is what got me interested in jazz..

The internet is an amazing place... really though I just googled their names. Some come from Wikipedia, others from Getty Images, Instagram etc. ... I thought members would like to see some of their guitar heroes . (so far these are mine) :-)

oops i already commented on this ...

Yes , I have had it for a couple of years now. Its a favourite because its so easy and comfotable to play, and has great tone. I have Daddario Chrome flat wound strings on it for a mellow jazz tone, but this guitar is happy playing blues or almost anything. I play it unplugged mostly but it has Sweet P90 style pup . This guitar is also produced with a cutaway and 2 p90 pups . Try one if you can.

?? Always wanted to try a D'Angelico but havent seen one in any store here in Ontario...

Indeed these are very nice guitars, especially the older models from the 1950's or older, which featured solid spruce tops, made in USA.
